While the Inno does sound like an awesome device, I don't think it'll kill radio anywhere...at least not until the price comes WAY down. There's also the monthly fee, which many, people are not willing to pay.

Just curious, what does this really have to do with Denver?

Study after study has shown that the appeal for satellite radio isn't there.

Even the vast majority of drone Howard Stern fans proved that they are not willing to fork over the money for a radio and the higher than normal subscription fee for Stern (about $20 a month in total).

As for technology, through its ROKR phone, Motorola proved that the marriage of an MP3 player and cell phone do not mean add up to anything substantial.

Think about it -- you simply have disdain for Denver radio for whatever reason. You really think some sort of new device is going to make people jump to satellite radio?

I didn't see anything in your post about how satellite programming is better than Denver radio. Nobody is going to jump over to satellite radio until they prove a palpable difference between the two. It doesn't matter if it's played through an MP3 player/satellite receiver or through on Oreo cookie, people need to see a difference before spending nearly $500 for something they can get for free right now.

Well, you may be right about this, but PERSONALLY, satellite radio is really starting to appeal to me.

Howard Stern? Man, I wouldn’t pay a dime to listen to this warped, corrupted pervert so can’t argue with you there either.

There again, I drive back and forth to work using a Treo 650 – I go weeks without listening to the radio. And when I get home, it’s Comcast: Channel 906 (where I live) hooked up to my home stereo.

My beef with Denver radio is simple: No Adult Urban- me no listen. Be careful of your under estimation of technology. The Telecommunication industry is cursing the VOIP -- layoffs continue to ensue in the POTS segment. Resounding: Yes, once the price becomes more affordable to the masses, you’ll see vast migration.

Satellite radio has a wide (very wide) diversity of music genres. Denver Radio has… well, 4 (Country, easy listening, Spanish and Rapp). Now, my friend, that is palpable enough for me to spend $500.00 verses free crap ( In Denver, you get what you pay for)

Sorry, just showing my disdain for Denver’s 4 radio formats: Country, Easy Listening, Spanish and Rap… oh wait, there’s one more: Religion. I thought I lived in a big city – not Greeley

I feel you Smoothhop,

The lack of Urban (UAC) radio during my six year stay in Denver forced me to seek alternatives. When XM came out, I jumped at it. Paying for quality radio was no problem for me.I had other friends in Denver who ended up subscribing to Sat radio due to their frustration with Denver's lack of R&B radio. I'm in Houston now where the R&B radio channels are plentiful, BUT I still have my XM.

I’m jealous – I want to live in Huston. I flew into a couple of time and thought: Wow, what a huge city. I think it’s like the 4th largest city in the US. Denver is ranked 22nd (don’t let the skyline fool you. Denver’s an overgrown Greeley and the radio stations prove it)

Interesting that you still have XM, R_B_Lover. Do you find the music rotation wider with better music on XM?

I understand that...and that's fine. You are definitely entitled to your opinion. However, I'm from a small city in northern New Mexico that only has four or five radio stations...so I just wish that I could get some of those formats here. It gets really tiresome listening to static on Class C Albuquerque stations (2 1/2 hours away when driving). Sorry, I guess I'm getting off-topic.

Have a great Easter weekend, Smoothop, Radioman12, and everybody else who reads these boards.

You know that doesn't sound so bad.. at least you get some radio stations. Now if you lived in oh say Rawlins you won't have much of a choice in radio at all expect for the local AM and FM station. Now talk about weak and borning.. If you had Satallite Tv like DIsh you could listen to SIRUS or Directv XM but if not like I stated in the pervious posts..

Just hope over to music.aol.com and click on the banner to listen to XM for FREE! :)

Oh and Happy Easter Everyone! Have a great Easter Weekend!

Why do that when you can listen in via Winamp? Just look for AOL RADIO WITH XM in the ONLINE SERVICES section of the Winamp Media Library. :)

I second this notion! :)
