New girl in town

I can't believe no one has mentioned Jackie Hyland made her debut on GMT yesterday. She was introduced the same way the brought in Delkus and Farmer, with photos of her with husband and friends. So warm........ I still think Denman and Rey were just fine. I hope 8 gets what they're looking for.

This won't work. Hyland is pretty, but she has the same NPR delivery that all other channel 8 anchors have.

Gee ... a smooth, coherent, intelligent delivery? Yes, why on EARTH would you want that from a news anchor?

(shudder)

Very true! Shouldn'there be a peroxide blonde who will giggle at any comment, make fun of a co-anchor with jokes that fall faster than a ton of lead, and doesn't know current events except whose sleeping with Brad Pitt? Indeed why would anyone want a smooth coherent news anchor? I feel a chill as well.

Of course you want that. But you also don't want someone that's boring.
With the exception of John McCaa and Dale Hansen, Channel 8's anchors are boring.

We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done
We haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry

It's just as true today as it was 10 years ago.
