New GM at WROX

Shawn McIntire is the new GM at WROX/WKXY in Clarksdale. The station, which flipped to oldies in December, launches a new morning show on Monday with former WROXer Jerry Allhands. Jerry did mornings at the station over a decade ago. The station continues to air FOX News and Missisippi Network News and will soon re-launch the WROX Trading Post.

In other WROX news, the Cathead Delta Blues Show with Roger Stolle expands to 2 hours on Saturday nights. The program is now heard 6pm-8pm.

Another big announcement coming later this month.

Sounds great. It's always awesome to hear of a station getting back to its roots. Since I've been out of the business I've grown to have an appreciation for community radio so I certainly wish them the best.

What's their regular format (outside of the blues show and other speciality shows)?

Heck now I wish I had kept my T-Mobile cellular account - I could stream stations like this through my Walkman phone. Stupid AT&T blocks it.

I am not sure it is proper to ask about revenue on a public board..perhaps you should email Mr, Fuss directly on matters like this...just my thought,,,no offense intended Regards...JBI

Under normal conditions I would agree with you. However, the point was basically made on this board that they couldn't survive as a Blues station due to non-saleablity. My guess is that the Oldies format might work a bit better for them, but the real problem is the little town that the station serves isn't a very supportive marketplace.

I will say things are better. Oldies is more saleable than blues.
