how about putting standards on 1350 wwwwwwwwwwwwwwl ;)

I think KCIL would push Entercom over the current limit of stations under the current FCC rules. However rumors of loosening of Regs coming from M street though

But I think the only reason that Sunburst has done this (want to move to NOLA) , is they want a player in the NOLA market to justify the overpayment they did on the cluster as well as the new owners probably thought Houma/Thibodaux was just a small town market and not roughly 4th or 5th largest market in Louisiana.

However they are making some great money on the Bayou... Better to have 15%+ numbers in a 200,000 population market or say 3% in a million market (as the people buy off hearing the radio ads in our market in pretty good numbers)

Entercom could punt WWWL to a Spanish language broadcaster. Furthermore, selling KCIL could offset some of the money Sunburst spent on the bayou cluster.

That's one of the things I've been saying for a while.. find it funny no one has gone spanish talk. I know media reports were that KGLA when it ran talk after Hurricane Katrina was a very talked about station. With more spanish speakers moving in to replace those who have moved out of New Orleans, I've been surprised Crocodile hasn't tried for another station before buying the TV station.

I don't know the motives and such, but I'm guessing when Sunburst bought in from Guaranty, they wanted to use this as a New Orleans cluster with KXOR and KCIL featuring traffic for New Orleans as well as the bayou area. Guaranty wanted to move the station to Larose but failed.... I figure Sunburst could find a transmitter closer to the local area that would cover NOLA and give both areas the coverage they needed.

I haven't heard anything about the move other than the CP, So it may be a contengency plan... if Houma/Thibodaux didn't pay, bail the one station they could to New Orleans to make money (as this wasn't even put out until the buy-in after the original purchase).

BTW Psycodelic-1...great hint .. Guy's name is Chris Claus and reportedly ran news stations all over the nation
