New GMAZ Anchor

This morning at 4:30 Javier Soto signed on with Allison Alexander. Soto said that Alexander has been at the station "for a week." Alexander is an ASU grad and has family in the area.

I'm surprised it took this long to have a replacement for Tara Hitchcock. I think KTVK messed up by not having an anchor ready before Kaley O'Kelley took maternity leave.

Another question is Alexander going to be the permanent co-host for the 4:30 Black Hole before the main anchors come in at 5:00?

Lastly, what's the deal with April Warnecke doing the 4:30 segment? She's on record saying she didn't want to be a newscaster. However she has been working with Soto for months. And when Warnecke isn't there, they import another anchor or have Soto do it solo.
 
The answers seem pretty logical, here.

Tara negotiated an early end to her contract. To a certain extent, that must have been a surprise to KTVK management. For whatever reason, they must have thought that Tara would stay until the end. (Not sure why they would think that, given they demoted her to the broom clos...err...newsroom :D)

That said, I'm sure that April was a team player and agreed to be the interim anchor of the 4:30am half-hour. I believe that Allison is her permanent replacement, since she was a main evening anchor in Providence. It's clear that KTVK wants Tess to stay on the weekends -- after all, their weekend am newscasts do VERY well in the ratings.
