New Gospel station: WCVG?

As of 6:45 this morning, they've been playing Gospel music for over an hour. Is Davidson dumping La Ley and beating The BUZZ to the format?

Kingdom Life Ministries is operating the station again as of today. It's the same Gospel and talk format 1320 had before Plessinger sold the station to Davidison Media. I guess there is not much of a listener base for Regional Mexican programing given their weak signal.

According to current FCC data, DAVIDSON MEDIA STATION WCVG LICENSEE, LLC is the current LICENSEE of WCVG. Dose this mean Kingdom Life Ministries has an LMA
with DAVIDSON MEDIA to program their station?

As far as Regional Mexican programming in Cincinnati goes, I asked one of the Spanish Radio PDs here in Columbus if this format would work in Cincinnati.
He told me two years ago that there are a lot more Hispanics in the Columbus radio market then the Cincinnati radio market. He also didn't seem to be interested in
programming a Spanish radio station in Cincinnati. So, this format change isn't a big surprise to me. Its not all that viable in Columbus but the two stations that carry
the format have the two weakest signals in the Columbus market and both have
survived for the last few years.

So far, it seems Columbus is the only market in Ohio that has any radio stations programming in the Regional Mexican format.

I don't necessarily agree with that. I think a Spanish format could do OK here. WCVG just wasn't the signal for it. There are large Latina populations to the north of the market where WCVG's signal just ddoesn't get to. How about 1360?

Nor the first time they played gospel....They did previously in 1990 after its one year stint as "The Elvis Station."

Since Davidson Media dropped the Latino format in Cincinnati, why do you think Jacor's station on 1360 AM
would be interested? Davidson Media already specializes in the Latino format and has a station in Louisville
and Indianapolis. Dose Jacor have any station(s) programing in the Latino format? That is why you may not see any other stations picking up that format any time soon in Cincinnati.

We need American stations to broadcast in ENGLISH.

Everyone wants to come to America, but no one wants to be an AMERICAN.

I was goofin' with you. But seriously, the marketplace decides what language is used on the radio. The Hispanic population of the metro is 1.5 percent, so a station targeting that segment will have a hill to climb.

I thought that may have been the case. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between sarcasm and seriousness when posting on boards.

I never mean to be mean-spirited in my posts. I like to have fun and learn things here.
