New Grants station?

A recent FCC auction awarded two new station permits at 95.9 Skyline-Ganipa about ten miles east of Grants won by Don Davis for $10,000 and another in Chama at 96.1 to Richard M. Glover for $28,000. I thought there was already a station in that area but looking at radio-locator there are none licensed to Chama now. The Skyline-Ganipa station is a class A but could it be upgraded? It has been mentioned here before that there is not much money in Grants so I wonder if this could have another use such as a translator source like 96.7? Of course if he were to build this station alongside 96.7 on Mount Taylor that would likely cause some problems for the Albuquerque translator.

The list is here: FCC Auction 109 Comes To An End; iHeartMedia Wins 107.9 Sacramento - RadioInsight there is a tab that can arrange the list by state.

There was a 96.1 in Chama about 5 years ago but it was eventually deleted... i dont think in its final years it was doing well financially and thats why it went dark

The Chama C3 CP just was granted. The listing on FCCdata.org will have to be cleaned up.... it appears to be data elements from several applications..

There was a station in Chama on the same frequency. KFLH, later changed to KZRM, operated from 2001 to roughly 2016. Its licensed was cancelled in 2017 after being off air for "more than a year."

The KZRM studio still exists.. its inside a subway in Chama..... you walk in and off to the right, its in it's own big room.

A total of 22 construction permits related to Auction 109 were approeved last week. Among them is 95.9 Skyline-Ganipa at 360 watts ERP,, 400M HAAT. It's a Class A.

The Rio Grande Sun has an in-depth article profiling the new KXJR, Chama, an Auction 109 station:

Two key quotes :

"Mark Glover purchased 96.1 FM in Chama in August and has been aiming to get the broadcaster up and running again."

"The station is currently located in the same building as the Subway in Chama and Glover said they had a 1 year lease for the space, and he hopes to fund the station selling adds. "

So indeed the old Subway-neighbor studios will be reused. It sounds like the station will not attempt to be a Sante Fe rimshotter as was the old KZRM.
