I don't watch too often anymore. But I noticed new weather graphics on their website last week, and finally caught the new on-air look yesterday. Horrible. The yellow and blue look looks so "low rent" I almost gagged. And it appears they finally got rid of their long-time "voice" to get someone cheaper, adding to the cheapness of the entire look.
I also laughed to see how they adopted some ideas from former competitor WUTR, such as moving the "talent opens" to the end of the first segment... and having that line on the bottom that always shows the topic of the current story.
I'd say WKTV took a step backwards, but even the two graphics packages BEFORE the previous one looked better than this one or even the one they just got rid of. Hell, even the supers from 1992, with the red line with simple, white, Times New Roman text would look better than the crap they're using now.
I will say, giving them credit, that the new look makes the weather graphics look better... and the double-box for live shots looks nice, with the two pictures kinda "straddled" in the corners, instead of the "same old thing" with two squares right next to each other. But if I didn't already have a full-time job keeping me busy, I'd actually volunteer my time to make new graphics and give them to WKTV free of charge.
