New Graphics package on WABC news

WABC debuted a new graphics package over the weekend for their newscasts. The graphics are much sleeker and crisper than what they had before.

I've seen them too. Sleek, yes; More Crisp, yes. My guess is that they're trying to go for a more HD-Friendly look for when the Digital Transition takes place. I have one of those converter boxes, and I can tell you that there is a major difference in clarity. Perhaps the other stations might follow suit--if they haven't already.

Slight OT--they have changed their movie intros as well. If I may say, I miss the "theater" zoom in from nearly 20 years ago and the immortal rotating cameraman/flying yellow circle 7's, which even I remember being seen in the 1980's. These new intros seem generic.

Their news graphics---ANOTHER STORY--sharp, clear, crisp--yep I'd say Digital Ready.
