Is this Dance or Gay Talk radio/variety?

How many Gays would actually buy this when they could get Dance AND Unrestricted Gay Talk on Sirius Radio?

I'm in CT, so I kinda wondered the same thing as CC doesn't have any other "gay" stations in the HD-2 list (not even in SF). None of the Hartford streams were up yesterday (as perviously announced as a 2/1 startup), they did start up this morning so I checked all 4 streams. But as far as WKSS goes, the promos said "Fabulous 95.7" and "The Pride". I also previously figured it would be some kind of talk station, instead it's classic and current dance and R&B.

Maybe there will be other programming on it, but for now, it's an interesting mix.

I dont agree with calling a Dance Station (GAY)... This is going to scare away many potential listeners of the format.

It's not even fully Dance music, when I checked it out they played Vanity 6, Nasty Girls followed by that new Pink Panther track from Beyonce.

Agreed 100%. It makes no $ense.
Edited by saladdressing on 02/02/06 08:35 PM.

I listened for a few minutes, and I'm still trying to figured out when the last time Judy Garland's "Over The Rainbow" was considered a 'Dance' song.

In that case, im a bit releived that it isnt an actual dance station. I havent even listened to it, im afraid too.

It sounds like WKTU. They're now calling it Fabulous957. It's only retro dance classics, the new wave thrown in is cool though. I don't really see the point in only marketing the station to gays, at the risk of excluding others.

I'm from Hartford and I have no clue how big the gay population is here, but I don't think its anything remarkable.

I don't see how any musical genre could get the label "gay." Happy, mainstream, commercial, undergound, good, bad..okay.. but gay????

Talk about niche programming. Program to a small segment of the population? Amazing how they can justify not programming a format for the masses and program one for their perceived future masses. They'll justify anything in radio that feeds their own agenda.
