NO BROADCASTER WILL EVER TRY A 24/7 HIP HOP CLASSIC STATION, EVEN THOUGH THERE MIGHT BE A MARKET FOR IT....

KDAY (FM) in LA tried it, and switched.

OKAY I THINK ITS A VIABLE FORMAT FOR 25-45 ADULTS. IT JUST HAS TO BE DONE RIGHT.

True.

If the format is done right it will work. Plus the radios need to come down in price that would be the best thing for the HD-2 formats to survive.

I WAS TALKING ABOUT A STRAIGHT OVER THE AIR 24/7 HIP HOP CLASSICS STATION. NOT AN HD SIGNAL

Well then to answer your question is no. In this day and of age of revenue driven formats that one may not cut it.

HD-2 would be the best bet for that type of format if some decides to do it. 97.9 & 104.5 haven't even begun to think about adding a sub channel and they would probably be the best to pull off that kind of format.

It would be nice but......

I KNOW CLEAR CHANNEL HAS SEVERAL HD-2'S THAT ARE DOING THE FORMAT. I HAVE LISTENED TO THEM ONLINE. BUT I JUST WISH THAT SOMEONE WITH THE BALLS AND A GOOD STICK WILL TRY IT. YEAH I KNOW IT WILL BE HARD TO SELL IT, BUT IM SURE THE 34-45 ALL ADULTS DEMO WILL LOVE IT.

Yeah, the Bone is just playing their entire hard drive from a-z on their HD-2...the signal is really weak!!!!

I just got my JVC HD Radio the other day. Still evaluating the whole thing..... but here's what I've discovered so far....

I really like 102.1's HD2 music.

98.7's HD2 -"All Beatles" I need to listen more, but I've mostly only heard the big hits, like Hey Jude and Strawberry Fields..... I'm hoping for more than those over-played wonders . . .

100.3's HD2, "MY HD" (all requests) from Jack has been lackluster so far.
I also got an error message when I e-mailed a request to [email protected]
"Rejected by a remote server, sorry this receipient is not valid (#5.7.1)

93.3's HD2 has no sound at all, just silence at their HD2 signal.

92.5 is supposed to have an "Americana" HD2, but not even a placeholder for 92.5 HD2 comes up.....

KAAM 770 does not have an HD2 signal, but their primary HD signal (which wirks in the daytime hours) has way too much bass boost, otherwise the sound is good.

HD Channel Update

92.5 - KZPS now has their HD 2 channel up...... It'e called Lone Star 92.5, and is described as a Southern Rock / Outlaw Country / Alternative Country Format . . .

I look forward to hearing Allman Brothers, SRV, and ZZ TOP that does notnormally get played on the main station . . .

I've stopped monitoring 100.3's HD2, it seems that All Request Jack, is basically the same group of commercial and pop rock that Jack FM already is.....

102.1's HD2, the New Alternative still is satisfying, as it tends to air less of the commercial alternative "hits", and goes deeper into meatier tracks....

98.7's All Beatles channel actually plays things from their solo careers, which is ok, but so far the commercial hits seem to have the most airplay. But I do like all of the "moptop" songs and hits that are being programmed . . . Looking for live cuts, whcih I have not yet heard . . . .

When I want to relax, it's nice to turn on 107.5's HDs for Traditional Jazz....

770 - KAAM's HD is good, but it's always a bummer to turn there and hear a non-music program on the weekends.....
