New home for the Colts in Lafayette

98.7 WASK is apparently now the new home for the Colts in Lafayette according to All Access.

With a Super Bowl victory under their belts......you would figure that The Rocket wouldnt want to get the Colts affiliation taken from them.

Could this be a sign of changes to come at AMP or was this just a matter of one station outbidding another for broadcast rights?

Maybe the championship team wanted to deal with championship level broadcasters.

WASK will one day land Purdue Sports. I think that is definately one of there major goals. They already have a great tailgate show.

As for ALL the Lafayette AMP stations... they now officially sound like small town radio (not the good kind).

Art needs to realize... it's over.

RULE #381 WHEN SELLING YOUR CLUSTER:

Get out of all current or pending contracts as soon as you can, unless they are the anchor of the cluster in which you are selling.

Lia is gone from WLFF, Cooper is gone from WSHP, tried to get out of the Romeo contract on WAZY. Sounds like there is an add in the radio buyers weekly coming soon from South Eighteenth.

Considering how many people listen to NFL games on the radio, I don't find this to be a significant shift in listenership.

But they'll get their spike on game days and that will help boost some of the demos. And their won't be much salesmanship needed because most sponsors will just transfer their commitments to WASK from WSHP, yawn and move on, so the boost in revenue will be great, too.

How it changes the overall Lafayette listener landscape? Not much.

But when the hammer eventually falls on AMP with Purdue, Schurz will be providing the nail for the coffin.

You think AMP will pull from them after finally getting back their 50,000 watt blowtorch? I mean, its very possible.

It will be less an issue of AMP pulling away from Purdue Sports...it will be a matter of Purdue Sports pulling away from AMP, and it IS long overdue.

Right on the money, Johnson.

Don't work to hold on to what you've got and you'll lose it.

Schurz may be gobbling up everything in sight in this market, but are you supposed to step aside when the competition faulters? Not hardly.
