New HOT AC station for Lafayette????

First Snap 1037 to sports...... now word is that Delta Media will flip KOGM 107.1 to Hot AC as MIX 1071 in the coming weeks..........

Deja Vu for KOGM who was mix 107 a few years back but on an inferior signal at the time..........

Lots of changes happening over there in Carencro.......Stay Tuned......

This is completely different from last week. Well that leaves Planet 105.1 and for now Rock 93.7, also Eagle 98.1's vast signal strength as the only outlets for rock until Cumulus decides what to do with 93.7. 107.1 competing with KSMB, good luck Delta!

Oh well, radio mediocrity and cookie cutter rawk wins again!

I was in hopes of a change for the better with 107.1, but after listening on line for the past 12 minutes and hearing four songs back to back with no station identification, no jock, no liner, no jingle, just songs back to back, I might as well be listening to satellite radio. This new Mix 107.1 is no better than the old Mix 107.1 a couple of years ago, the music selection is much better, but it sounds just as poorly programmed.
And I don't want to hear any of this bullsh_t about "Oh, we're just getting started up" or "Oh, we haven't gotten our jingles in yet", that's what they said when I called when it was Mix 107.1 last time when they had dead air every hour and local spots playing at the same time as national spots, and they were "just getting started up" for 8 months, it sounded like someone just didn't care, and still does.
In the few minutes it has taken me to type this, a sixth song has just come on, dead air between the two songs, and still no identifier, they may as well say goodbye to Arbitron. I can't take it anymore, I gave it a shot though.

It's amazing how no one pays attention to detail anymore.  I have a station in my market that has been 'All New' for going on 3 years now.

I hear a lot of things in mid size markets (larger than mine) that I would never let go. Since there are really only two media moguls out there running radio right now, I suppose it doesn't matter much to them anymore.

I do feel good, when I walk to the streaming server that I run and see 3-400 people listening to my station. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but for my little small market, it's not bad. That's all through my website before we had any tune in working. I have a 32k AAC stream I just put up there, so I expect the numbers to grow a bit.

We do pay attention to detail, write new imaging every single month, produce branded and extended intros to songs, etc...

How about the all new 102.5 WFMF ...LOL...Since 1996!!!
Does the WLSS- Loose 102 debacle count in that timeline ??? ;D

They started the new tagging right after they switched from Loose back to WFMF. What's so funny is our state doesn't update crap when it comes to emergency radio stations to tune in to so we still see in 2012 references to WLSS and KWKH-FM ??? ::)

Also Chris, on the server, can it show IP addresses or just numbers of active users? curious if ip addresses may be out of towners loving your imaging or what as I love terrestrial radio but Itend to listen to stations that make me wanna listen for what's next as some stations I can almost guess the song that will play next and be right

I run my own server, so it's just raw IP. I know from Facebook and Twitter that many are former residents who miss the station.

I get a number of web comments from troops from here, people stationed over seas, etc... I would imagine most people around here just listen on the radio, as we have a good signal, but I have also had people tell me they stream at work because they can stream, but can't have radios.

Now, with that said, I just started doing AAC encoding and will be doing external hosting soon, so I will get demographic stats and more reports at that time. I am excited about that.

If you listen to me on Tune In, it actually hits the new AAC stream instead of the WMA I do here.

I do think it is remarkable how many people simply 'don't care' how it sounds anymore. I grew up with radio being a big influence and I have always treated the platform with respect. The new world of radio is nothing like the old one and that is a sad thing.

Got some stats now, since I have the aac stream up. Mind you, this is only through Tune-In... I'm getting around 4100 unique listeners a day. Average listening time is between 15 minutes and an hour. On Monday, my area was highest. On Tuesday, DFW was my highest. I'm in Monroe, LA, so many people have moved to Dallas from here, I suppose.

It still makes me feel good that they choose us over the other 2 Hip Hop stations there.

85% of my listening is US based and 15% is international with Japan being highest (assuming Military).

It's nice to have stats. I'll update you more, as people are still hitting my server from the website. Only Tune-In takes you to the new player.
