According to All Access as well as Radio-Info’s own Tom Taylor’ Newsletter the Hudson Valley is getting a new ratings book, that will be released this Tuesday February 17. It is a Custom Survey Area Report . It's A compilation of last falls ratings for Poughkeepsie , Newburg ,Westchester and New York . However the deal is with Pamal Broadcasting only .It covers roughly the same area Cumulus & Clear Channel’s new ratings deal with Neilson’s for their new ‘sticker Diary’ . Cumulus & Clear Channel dumped Arbitron for Neilson last fall . While Pamal’s deal calls for continuing the current twice a year system ,The Neilson book will only cover a few weeks once a year .I wonder how this will affect the local ratings landscape . Which book do we or the sponsors believe ? Although they are not a major factor in the ratings ,How will this affect the independents like WDST? Does this mean an end to the Poughkeepsie and Newburg ratings books? Since it is for Pamal only will it be even released publicly ?
