New Imaging At WIOD

Just a few subtle things, like the slogan is now "News/Talk 610 100.3 WIOD" and a new voice doing the pre-recorded drop-ins.

Also.... is Manny gone from the morning show?

I understand why they are hyping the 100.3 signal, but it is so lousy in parts of Dade County that listeners might be confused when they go to 100.3 and pick up no signal (or even Thunder Country out of Key Largo).

100.3 is only able to cover Broward, and they cover it well with 250w or less.....but, when they *only* hype 100.3 on their co-owned FM stations, that's just wrong. Yes there are FM-only receivers out there, but WIOD shouldn't act "ashamed" that they have an AM station.

BTW they are also on WBGG HD2. That's a crisp crackle-free signal that covers Miami-Dade..... :)

HD2? What's that? (Kidding).

I thought at one point in the past they were also going on 93.5 or something like that in downtown Miami.

But yeah 100.3 is a no go for Miami. I'm on the 38th floor facing north and can't pick it up.

As mentioned, 100.3 can only be heard in Broward, where 610 covers all of South Florida. Unless they acquire a full power FM signal, the FM should be mentioned as an afterthought. WFLF in Orlando at 540 can be heard from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach and beyond, but for awhile they were promoting their 104.5 translator, which covers a tiny fraction of the AM.

AM is not dead..yet. Yes, there is static, but the band will be around for awhile. We are seven years away from the hundredth anniversary of KDKA, followed by many other stations. AM will survive, especially in major markets.

I hear the two fighting in north Dade where I can see the Hallandale tower, but W262AN is clear up through Pompano.

They should put WIOD on 93.5 also. In fact, put it on as many translators as they can. Then refer to the "station" as just "Newsradio WIOD." Or something like the "WIOD Radio Network" and list the frequencies every so often.

It *was* briefly on 93.5, but as a placeholder (I assume) for Evolution 93.5, a dance station running now. However, in north Dade, it would be fighting with the 93.5 Reach FM translator.

Best scenario----and we all know what it is----blow up one of their underperforming 100 k FM's. This is 2013, and as music is leaving FM (slowly but surely), CC needs to "join the living".
