New Jack Ditties?

How about some new discussion on Jack-FM? Why is 104.1 here not doing as well as some of the other Jacks. Seattle's Jack was huge, tying the #1 25-54 station in that market in only its 2nd trend. Why not here? Does KQ really have that variety/depth image all locked up? Get your hand out of the rednater cookie jar and come here for some better conversation.

JACK FM

Please keep in mind that Seattle trend you're quoting is a single month- but, yes, they're off to a great start.

Some markets will catch fire quickly, others slowly. ALL FORMATS work that way-
the local landscape has everything to do with that. So, because all markets are unique, JACK can't possibly be expected to have the same ranking in each market.

I'm confident that it's because I like it.

I got to catch a bunch of KZJK while at the Conclave, and it's definitely my favorite take on Jack that I've heard so far. A little newer in vintage and more poppy than the others to my ear.

But I like it, so it's doomed to failure. ;)

Funny you should mention the Conclave, I was talking to another out-of-town, radio researcher, who was up for the convention; he said it was the worst Jack format that he has heard. I guess, each to his own.

This market is personality driven given KZJK is faceless music station. I'm not shocked by the ratings. I'm surprised by the commercial load that the station carries, especially right after the switch over.

If we're playing gut-instinct armchair PD, it's probably not the way I'd have done it...but I'm sure Infinity researched the hell out of it, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. It definitely surprised me -- I would have thought it would have been way more classic rock and almost none of the newer pop-rock product that is all over their playlist. I'm only saying I liked listening to it on a personal level more than the other Jacks.

Given that they flipped to Jack mid-book, there's still some of Mix 104's numbers in here, too. I'd be more interested to see how their monthlies are doing instead of looking at this book to judge how well (or not) they're doing. (The same holds true, albeit in reverse, for Seattle.)

If Jack does well, that's great news for Infinity's research. I don't personally think it has a chance of huge success, even their new logo sucks!!!However, anything is better than the Mix station that was total flop. It started strong with music programming and quickly became a joke with songs in rotation from 1978/79 (Supertramp, Blondie, etc.) & 1991 (Firehouse, Extreme, etc.). 80's does have to be 80's, right?

We (us locals) sent two out-of-town morning DJs packing (bye bye Carmen). Giving Lisa Wright, the chance of being station's only saving grace to a lack luster roster of second-rate broadcast DJs. When a DJ takes airtime to explain showing up late for a shift because of a flat tire, you know the station is in trouble.

Sorry for the negative post, this station/frequency could be so much better.

Jack?

So, their HUGE jumps in the most recent ratings trends are not a shock to you?
Jack had big increases 18-34 and 25-54- check it out.

Jack better?

To whom? Radio listeners in the Twin Cities seem to be saying "we love it!".
Those are the only votes that really count.

This JACK-FM is now looking for sales reps. What an oppportunity for non-locals, don't missed it!

I have been there & done that no interest in this job & I thought there load was kinda heavy. However, there always room for more ads & street people.
