In a VERY unusual move, WADM-AM 1540 Decatur, IN (Fort Wayne area) has dumped its classic country format and switched to jazz (no word on whether it's traditional or "smooth" as I haven't had a chance to listen much yet... so far listening on line I've just heard one contemporary jazz vocal but it would seem they lean more toward "real" jazz). The new calls are WJZI, which of course were the calls of 93.3 in Milwaukee when it was smooth jazz.
The calls stand for "Jazz in Indiana." They stream at www.wjzi.com.
The Fort Wayne area has had smooth jazz before when rimshot 106.7 FM licensed to Hicksville, OH, signed on as WFJZ carrying the JRN SJ format. They dropped the format in June 2005 and it became Hot AC WFGA "Froggy 106.7."
