New Jersey 101.5 Afternoon Show

It looks like the two year, Deminski and Doyle experiment is coming to an end. Rumor is that their contract is coming up, and it's not going to be renewed. With all the work that Tommy G has been doing at WCTC, and with the thousands of listeners he has pulled away with his HUGELY successful internet show, the smart money says that they are finally going to put Tommy on in the afternoons like they should have a long time ago.

I can't wait to have something worth listening to in the afternoons again!!!!

The astroturf sure grows thick in here sometimes.

As if your post count isn't enough reason to know you're full of nonsense, at this moment (4:38 pm on a Wednesday), the stats page on Tommy G's Icecast server shows 9 listeners. That's a far ways below the THOUSANDS you claim he has pulled away from 101.5.

The only place I've heard this "rumor" is from your post so I doubt it has any validity to it.

D&D also aren't an "experiment". While I wasn't around for their first run previously, they aired on 101.5 previously before Scott and Casey took over.

Looks like it's going to happen fairly soon. Deminski and Doyle havent made any friends and people are begging for someone like Tommy G to come back. If my sources are correct it could be happening by the beginning of summer if not sooner.

No big loss since all they talk about is Deminskis divorce. Tommy will at least handle real New Jersey issues and won't laugh hysterically at his own jokes.

I can't wait to be able to keep my radio on 101.5 for more than just traffic.

Oh, so they haven't made any friends. That's going to be the reason for their exit. Because we're in the friend making business, not the money making business. What are you, 10 years old?

If they were to leave, it would have everything to do with:

- Billing
- Ratings (see billing, above)

I love these posts "people are begging for someone like Tommy G to come back". Really now.

Maybe they'll team Tommy with Roberta Gale or Michelle Jersen. Both of whom have been guests on his popular internet show. I'm just hoping its Tommy at this point. Everyone in the building hates Deminski and Doyle. Its probably hard to sell a show when you hate the people who host it. It will be nice to have something to listen to in the afternoons again. Those guys are just bad radio. No wonder they got run out of Detroit.

You know nothing of what you speak. Everyone hated Imus and could sell the show.

Radio sales isn't a "let's make friends" exercise. It's a money making exercise. If D&D aren't making money for the station, then that's why they would be shown the door. Have you ever been around radio sales people? They would sell satan and his minions in the afternoon if it made them money.

Your astroturfing is almost as hilarious as your pulling stuff out of your ass. Roberta Gale? She's been happily in AZ since she left NJ 101.5 over a decade ago.

Also, we already established that Tommy's internet show is not that popular, with a peak of about 12 simultaneous listeners mid-show.

I have only heard tommy a few times, which was several years ago. he had the same callers almost every night. If he was that great he would be back on radio and not on the internet where anyone can have their own show.

How about bringing the "music out to play" in the afternoons with Big Joe Henry? While I am not a New Jersey resident, I listen often on my phone, and I agree with the original poster that D&D do not make a very compelling listen.

D&D, Tommy G, Michelle Jersen...

NJ 101.5 should get a recycling award - recycling talent, not trash. OK, maybe trashy talent.

My biggest gripe with this station is that it's not all talk, all the time. Most of the music that can be heard here is heard all over the place. In addition, there's a complete lack of talk programming in Ocean County ... I'm not working during the weekend and would love to hear discussion on a number of subjects, but they're playing music just like every other station on the dial. Lost my passion for radio because there's so few stations offering anything truly different: too much tired soft rock, classic rock, and Top 40.

Things are getting tense at 101.5.

Deminski and Doyle are not happy that their contract is up soon and nobody has talked about extending it.

The sales staff is pushing to make a change because they aren't making the money that they used to make off the afternoon show.

Erik Johnson the program manager is searching high and low for a show that can bring the station back into the money. I imagine he'll be hooking up with Tommy G at any time to try and get those listeners back and get the station in the green again.

The clock appears to be ticking.

Well, I know Tommy G has some fans here and he did OK in evening for NJ 101.5, although Michelle had set the bar pretty low for him. But he's not the one to turn the station around during the day.

NJ 101.5 has some deep problems. People here can see it and probably even some listeners who don't follow the radio biz know something's not the same there. Ownership changes. Walt Sabo apparently out of the picture. Talent changes. A growing reek of desperation. Dennis and Judy - no, Michelle - no, Judy again. D&D, no, Ray and Craig - no, Ray and Casey - no D&D back from Dee-troit - no, TBA. The place has a revolving door - most likely the Jerson Memorial Revolving Door. This is a station with real management issues. All the signs are there. Townsquare files for Chapter 11 and then goes on a station buying binge with borrowed money. And the suits start squeezing local station management to get them out of the hole.

Too bad. It used to be such a good station. It's still not bad, just not what it was.

??? uh, have you seen their ratings lately? http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb413

If the salespeople can't sell an 8.0 6+... that means one of two things. Either a severe demo problem that we can't see in the 6+, or they suck as salespeople.

Oh yeah, there's always option #3, which is TheBigVoiceNJ is full of crap as a Christmas goose.

First off, unless a subscriber gives you access to "the book" (not really a book any more), you haven't seen the ratings.

Reflecting the station's sound, published numbers are still good but not what they were.

Erosion is gradual.
