"New Jersey 101.5" in HD ..

And now they're back to mono, and still no PAD text data on the HD signal. This has to be the most botched installation of HD Radio I've ever heard!

Hey, if this is a rather new install....chill a bit.

Let them get the bugs worked out. You have no idea whats going on at the other end.

All this so a select few can listen in HD. I enjoyed listening to them on weekends when the "Music Comes Out To Play", but the mono sounds awful, its a shame what's happened to what was once a great airchain, all so maybe 4% of the listeners can hear it in HD.

These are not bugs. This is incompetence. I've never seen any other FM HD Radio installation which caused the audio to become monaural on both the analog and digital signals.

No it's not.

HD is not a priority at any station. Its has no affect on the bottomn line, and there are few receivers

It is quite possible they don't know about the issue you are referring to.

It's possible they are working on other things and this issue is on the back-burner as it affects so few people.

From what I understand about the engineering folks there...they are far from incompetent. On the contrary.

HD is not a priority at any station.

But having the ANALOG FM signal in stereo should be a priority! There is no reason why installing HD Radio should cause their analog FM signal to downgrade to mono (with the stereo indicator lit, but no true stereo separation being broadcast).

If a station is going HD, they should have at least one side channel, clarity with no drops, utilize the maximum power allowed for your unit (NYC signals do the max), otherwise don't waste the listeners time, its a damn disgrace the way stations are floundering around with HD a potential shot in the arm for radio. A prime example is that waste of an HD signal, WJBR.

NJ101.5 is now in stereo again, in both analog and HD, although the balance is tilted to the right -- appropriate, given the station's political slant!

As of tonight, NJ 101.5 FINALLY has data with song info on the HD. Without the song, during a break or traffic, they roll the "Not New York not Philadelphia, Proud to be New Jersey" slogan. It's about time!

[EDIT] I have uploaded two pics of what I'm talking about.

Next time, use TinyPic.com to upload images. I can't get those MediaFire links to work in either Internet Explorer or Opera.

Still no sub, strange.
