New Jersey/Dena, continued

Re: Dena, continued

One more thing, Fred -According to Dena's bio, she's got experience at WIP, WOR, and broadcast experience in TV.You were saying something about "paying dues" and "having no experience"?

I was hoping to let this matter rest. However, I see no such reference in bios on the NJ101.5 website or on Blizzard's own website. Both bios emphasize her career as a stand-up comedienne, beauty pageant participant and spokesmodel. If you enjoy her program, fine. Keep listening. My comment was about the industry practice of hiring inexperienced people with name recognition from some other field. Most don't do well and most don't last (before going back to their real jobs) but some do make it. We shall see what happens. But I see nothing in her bio describing experience relevant to the ability to listen and interact with callers or to give meaningful and valid advice. That doesn't mean she can't but he background does not show it.I see nothing in this discussing topic that required the use of insults and personal attacks.
Troll: (n) 1. A lure or a line with its lure and hook used in trolling; 2. a dwarf or giant in Scandinavian folklore inhabiting caves or hills.

For the record, Mary Walter had broadcast experience, yet did not have children and made it clear she had no intention of having kids. Yet she was doling out advice to parents and having topics about kids. As for the use of the word "troll" -http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. And understand that you just got seriously pwn3d.

Re: Dena, continued

Sounds like disruption is more your line. What you posted indicates she has been a guest on some radio shows. That does not qualify as "broadcast experience."

WPSJ, Host - "For Women Only"WPSJ, Host - "Baby Talk"You are seriously grasping at straws. The crux of your entire argument was "here we go again, it's Michelle Jerson" - implying that she was sorely underqualified to do a radio show and that the only reason that she was hired is because she was good looking.Point blank, she went through a month of auditions and tryouts on 101.5. The listening public VOTED FOR HER. Management decided she was the best candidate out of the four finalists. The whole idea of Dream Job was to get some new blood on the air, and the process was a trial by fire to see which person out of everyone who auditioned was the right fit.I have not seen a single complaint on these boards deriding Dena or her show. I DID see some comments about the "Dream Job" process, but nothing about her show. You are still missing the point - you have not listened to her show - you have admitted you won't listen and you will never listen - and therefore, you have no valid opinion on the matter.Even at this point, the Michelle Jerson comparison is lost. Wanna know how Millennium corrected that mistake? By hiring Tommy G, who has evolved into one of the better late night hosts in the region.

Re: Dena - No Experience Needed

Interview with Dena Blizzard in the Courier Post after he debut (posted on the NJ101.5 website):
Q: Had you done any radio before?A: I had done five minutes as a comedian but I never had my own show.Q: Did you have any preconceived notions about what it's like to host a talk-radio show?A: No. I really had no idea what to expect. The first night was overwhelming.
Sorry to disappoint you. Even she says she had no experience. She is under-qualified.And she was a contestant in a beauty contest. That speaks volumes about her.I listened. She really needs to work on her voice and delivery (nasal resonance and shallow breathing). Her producer seems to be keeping her moving and on point. She has potential. She could be good with a couple of years' experience. But she's Miss New Jersey. She's special - like Whoopi. God forbid she should go to a small market to get experience like regular people. Besides, her comments make it clear she's just checking out radio.
