New Jersey Dominates Sean Ross' Oldies/Classic Hits Poll

http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter/html/ror-01112011.html

New Jersey stations finished 1-2 in the "Medium/Small Market FM" category, with Vineland's WVLT/"Cruisin' 92.1" leading the way, followed by "Wibbage 94.3" in Cape May, a reincarnation of Philadelphia's legendary WIBG.

Meanwhile, Morristown's "Classic Oldies" WMTR 1250 - whose logo, IMHO, resembles a hockey puck - was voted the best "AM" oldies/classic hits station.

FWIW, the "Large Market FM" winner was - no surprise here - New York's WCBS-FM, which, of course, could be heard in most of New Jersey (Philadelphia's WOGL finished third).

WMTR.. Not bad for what is basically a computer plugged into the transmitter with only one live day part. Even PM drive is voice tracked. Kudos to their PD for making it work but he gets demerits for the ham-handed way he dismissed his air staff a few years ago.

Huh? CBS-FM has reception problems going over the Driscoll Bridge between Woodbridge and South Amboy!

Seriously, out of all of the NYC FM signals, CBS-FM has the worst signal in New Jersey. Anywhere south of I-78 and west of I-287, B-101 gives CBS-FM big problems.

Many of them were brought back in 2009 when they dropped "Good Time Oldies."

Still too many "classic hits" 70's cuts on WMTR for my tastes, but kudos to Chris Edwards & WMTR for getting the award.
