New Jock heard on 95.1 Panama City

I'm hearing some guy named T.K. on 95.1 Beach FM
Is he a local jock there? I believe his name is Tom Kente? (sp?)
Or is he syndicated?

If he is, it's a voice tracking dream come true!

You're kidding, right? You *do* know who Tom Kent is (?)

unbelievable...
how long has Tom Kent been around...decades?

rob...you've gotta go to other threads on this site...at least once.
or just Google "Tom Kent"...and see who he is.

Chris ~~ aka ROMER979fm ~~YOU need to go back over the last 1,000 or so topics posted on the Norf Florida board to understand why
what rob was saying made total sense FOR ROB... there is NO morning show humor better than things posted throughout these posts
over the last few years. Welcome to the jungle.

(Off the record of the Nashville board ~ I though Buddy was 50 years older...shhh!)

Growing up in Minnesota, I spent at least as much time listening to WLS at night as I did to our local Twin Cities stations. Actually, more, since I was in the nighttime null of both WDGY and KDWB. First came John "Records" and Jeff Davis, then Tom Kent. Great jocks, all of them!

Somewhere, I have a tape of T.K. from March, 1980. The previous song ends, the jingle plays, and Van Halen's "...and the Cradle will Rock" begins. Tom proceeds to talk the intro and hit every one of the multiple posts (all of David Lee's screams and various utterings.) Nails it perfectly! Very cool stuff...not to mention hearing Van Halen on AM radio!

TIBBS....it is a good thing that I was too busy today dealing with TS Claudette and wasn't the one who was the "1st responder" to Rob's post....it is probably a good thing because the board editor would have censored it.....but let me do a little catching up here.....

ROB....IF YOU WILL DO 2 THINGS FOR ME AND THE READERS OF THIS BOARD........

1. DO SOME RESEARCH....TRY GOOGLE OR, BETTER YET, GO TO WWW.TOMKENT.COM

2. DO A LITTLE DXING TO THE WEST IN PENSACOLA (YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO PICK THEM UP IF MY MAP IS RIGHT), TUNE TO MY107 AND YOU WILL MAGICALLLY (AND I USE THAT TERM WITH CARE) FIND TOM KENT THERE TOO!

ok, is he voice tracked or starguide? i'm guessing voice tracked, easier to manage i think..
(glad i brought this board back to life)

Tom Kent is neither voice tracked or via starguide.....he comes in on XDS....I am not going to tell you what that is.....google it and learn something....

Rob, I gotta question for you on dxes. What stations seem to have the best signal that come out of panama city? Can you name them in some kind of order? I am working on a list of the radio stations on the beach like you did a while back. Can you help update? I am having trouble picking up these stations specifically right ont he beach: 92.9, 94.5, 98.5, 93.5 and maybe some other station I don't know which.
It's weird, maybe theyve got a strobey problem cause I gets lots of weird bangs and pops on my radio. Have they moved these stations
to another city> what do you here are you still at Navarrre? Thajks, and I am gl;ad your bak.

@ home (with computer QRM)
radio is a CC Radio plus (hopefully will invest in yagi and a samsung HD receiver)

in the car, it's usually not scanning time as I don't want to crash..

strongest signal
92.5 (almost all the time)
94.5 (we have an NPR translator in FWB which is rather stupid..since that's never heard out here except in sub par conditions)
95.5 (i think this is dothan.. WTVY but i believe PCB can pick this up, QRM from the now "KLOVE 95.7 navarre" sending out a mono signal w/ stereo IDs)
98.5 (this is mixed bag)

moderate
99.3 (qrm from 99 rock)
98.5 thanks to cat country 98.7 this used to be a strong signal until ahh 2005?
103.5 (only during tropo.. not coming in at all today)
101.1 (wishes this was a 100KW station as i tune in to C2C from time to time)
i've heard naples, kentucky, and various other states/cities on this frequency)
107.9 often heard almost daily but lately it's been biloxi
95.1 i love this station but noise from 94.9 WKHJ makes it un listenable (IBOC)

weak
100.1
89.1
90.7
97.7 (is this out of bonifay?)
93.5 thanks to COAST being a local 50KW giant

I hope this helps
-Rob

95.7 WGCX is now K-Love? When did that happen? Was the old religious music format local or a different satellite network?

Also, how do they manage a "mono signal with stereo ID"? Does the station just flip on the stereo for TOH IDs or are they saying the music is in "FM stereo" when it's actually in mono? Is it possible they're just playing a lot of old Southern Gospel that was never recorded in stereo?

and i forgot some too (doh)
last month, they flipped to this new format

http://www.praise95.net/

i don't know whats what

for the tibbs man:

106.7 strong to moderate
105.9 weak (i think this is the PCB station)

Well, hey...

Rob's been listening to Beach 95.1?

Cool, I can quit now and just retire to the beach (the one with the sand and the bikini babes)!

I've accomplished my mission.

This strobey's for YOU, Rob!

David

well, i listen to it when it's available. being 75 miles from FB road makes it hard but glad i can help
the only station here i can stand is 102.1 but their audio sounds like total shit. so it's mostly XM for me.

radio for me has lost it's touch because of the VT and satellite fed DJ's from NYC that ruined it. 100.3 WRKN is a good example of this. and mind you we get noise from 94.9 KHJ's iboc transmission, bleeding on 95.0/95.1 (gurr)
