It appears they are getting a little heavier on the currents as well. Getting ready for PPM, I imagine.
Really? I still think they only play 10-15 currents. Points for adding the new Coheed, Paramore and Flyleaf. No points for adding Kid Rock (do Active Rock/Rock or Alternative stations even play him anymore?)
Lets check out the log.
8:00 PM The Offspring - Come Out And Play
8:03 PM Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness
8:07 PM Kid Rock - So Hott (CURRENT)
8:17 PM The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Other Side
8:21 PM Radiohead - Paranoid Android
8:28 PM Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
8:33 PM Paramore - Misery Business (CURRENT)
8:36 PM Linkin Park - Crawling
8:44 PM Soundgarden - Fell On Black Days
8:48 PM Foo Fighters - The Pretender (CURRENT)
8:54 PM The Beastie Boys - Girls
8:59 PM Bush - Machinehead
9:03 PM The White Stripes - Icky Thump (CURRENT)
9:13 PM Metallica - The Unforgiven
9:19PM Incubus - Wish You Were Here
9:23PM Welcome To Jam Rock - Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley
9:26PM Daughter - Pearl Jam
9:30PM Tarantula - Smashing Pumpkins (CURRENT)
9:33PM Cherub Rock - Smashing Pumkins
9:45PM Bombtrack - Rage Against The Machine
9:49PM When I Come Around - Green Day
9:52PM All Around Me - Flyleaf (CURRENT)
9:56PM Low - Cracker
They are playing a current for about every three songs. It's SLIGHTLY better than what they were doing before. I guess you're right about the quantity lacking quality. But according to this log, at least a lot of the classic rock has been weeded out, but that might be because its late.
The new Kid Rock single is getting heavy airplay nation-wide on both Active and "so called Alternative" stations. It's currently #14 on the Billboard modern rock chart and #5 on the mainstream rock chart.
