New KDOC Imaging and Logo unvailed tonight.

The new logo is patterned after The Beach Boys "Endless Summer". A station wagon with a surfboard on top against a California sunset. They're going from "Your Independant" to "Endless Classics". The new owners of the station, Ellis Communications, have also stated they want to re-focus the station on Orange County, starting with area high school games, and live Anaheim Ducks games, with the promise of more original programming to follow. It will be nice if the station really does deliver "Endless Classics", rather than "Endless Infomercials".

Well atleast their programming is getting better. I just started watching it after The Bundy's were added. I was wondering why KTTV and KCOP stop airing it. They no longer air movies at night which is a bum.

I don't know who does KDOC's imaging but it has been consistently the worst I've ever seen. High school art class calibre. But I'm glad they've added MeTV as a sub-channel. Love watching "The Untouchables" and "Rawhide."

Well, it's changed again. For no reason whatsoever, KDOC is embracing their old analog channel assignment now by promoting themselves as LA56 KDOC. The station bug starts with "LA 56" and rolls into the KDOC block letters. And as I type this, during a South Park rerun the ID bug says LA56. It might as well have a bug with Wally George's eyes expand and roll to 5-6 like a slot machine. They are really wasting their time and money with station imaging. I bet the ME-TV sub gets more eyeballs than KDOC proper.

I was about to post this and someone beat me to it! I noticed while watching "American Dad" that they are now branding themselves as LA 56 and was thinking as well why are they going back to 56 when most people have cable and satellite nowadays...

Nearly every other LA based station is hanging on to their old channel assignments as well, as far as on-screen logos go. KDOC was actually one of the few exceptions.

Probably because the station shows up as channel 56 on satellite. For Dish and Direct TV as well as being a virtual channel for OTA (even though the station is actually broadcasting on ch. 32) it makes sense for KDOC to brand itself on its original channel assignment of 56. But for cable and Verizon Fios-TV it has a much lower channel assignment.

It's just strange that KDOC is embracing it again after long abandoning 56 imaging for a good ten+ years. I think the last time KDOC branded itself as 56 it was still in the hands of Pat Boone and Golden Orange Broadcasting.
