New KDOX Lineup

Jeremy Wayne does a local show between 11-Noon. Dr Laura is now live at Noon. Does anybody here know the rest of the new lineup on AM 1280? I hope Hugh Hewitt is still on the station.

According to the KDOX website, the current lineup is.....

Laura Ingraham 6a-9a
Mancow 9a-11a
Jeremy Wayne 11-Noon
Laura Noon-3p
Rodger Hedgecock 3-6p
Rusty Humphries 6-9p
Michael Medved 9-Mid
Hugh Hewitt Mid-3a

Not sure whats on 3a-6a or weekends.

If they are still running Bill Bennett's morning in America from 3A-6A that would mean Dennis Prager was bumped off. That's too bad, I will miss listening to him, he's a brilliant man. I should be able to find him on a stream though,

I didn't know they're actually listenable at night since they're a class D station... can the station reach the Vegas area at night well with only 28 watts?

I miss hearing Tammy Bruce on KDOX, she was better listening than most. I do like the music on weekends, though.

Dennis Prager is "brilliant?" Judging by every word he has ever said, he is just another evangelistic, right-wing, Constitution-hating hack that the airwaves are already grossly overpopulated with.

Prager often discusses the moral decay of America and how it all ties in with politics. I don't hear the other conservative hosts touch these issues. Some conservative talk does bore me, but Prager is not a "talking points" type of host.

As always, no disrespect, Jay, but you just described what every single conservative talk show host discusses every single day.

Their tower is actually IN Vegas. Class D stations apparently don't have to cover their COL at night.....

The music on the weekends is brilliant! As was said in 1961 by Chris Kenner, "I Like It Like That"!!

Listened to The J Man, err, I mean, Jeremy Wayne the other day. Dam, I thought the contest winner talk host on KXNT was green! Whoa Mama!

Its only brilliant if the ratings say so.

Ratings help...but really its only brilliant if the revenues say so. If they are generating more sales from this than what they used to get from the hodge podge of programming that most talk stations do on the weekends, its a good move.

Thats one of the problems with talk radio....most of the top hosts have no original programming on the weekend. Therefore, you either end up airing repeats or picking up shows about gardening, cigars, travel, or other misc. topics to fill the clock.

A lot of these don't appeal to news/talk P1 listeners and also most intelligent advertisers don't want to go there because they know the audience doesn't compare to the M-F levels.

This is why many stations (including KDWN) have brokered a lot of block programming during this time. What KDOX is doing is an interesting alternative and I hope its doing well for them.

Does KDOX still pick up Dallas Cowboys' football games? :)

I don't believe so but they still air BYU football.

I agree with what joemamma said. I like to listen to talk radio M-F but I have no interest in the specialty shows and infomercials talk stations run on the weekend. It sounds like an unlistenable wasteland to me. If I listen to AM on the weekend it's only the oldies on KDOX or sports.

I like some of the specialty shows. The computer chick, the home improvement guy ,the car dude and cigar dave are all good. What sucks are the snake oil salesman that are now dominating the KDWN weekends. Sound like the KDWN of 20 years ago,

Yes 20 years ago is when KDWN first started heavily using paid programming. But if you go back a little further..25-30 years ago KDWN was excellent on the weekend. It was unscreened current event driven talk 24/7 except for Stardust line and Dodger's baseball. Early 80s KDWN was so entertaining to listen to, it's what turned me into a lifelong talk radio fan.

While I'm sure they are generating some revenue, weekends on KDWN are as bad as it get's. The single worst weekend staton in town IMO. But at least Beasley doesn't run too many infomercials M-F. The previous owner would air paid programming at any given time.

I bet Beasley makes more money off the weekend block programming than what they do off M-F commercial sales. Rates are low during the week (due to small ratings) but block programmers will pay a premium to be on that strong of a signal.

Here's an idea...KDWN could go all paid programming all the time. Sure it would be horrible radio but they would make bank.

Then they could put their current M-F lineup (which isn't bad) on a weaker signal. Maybe they could buy 790 back. The ratings wouldn't be much worse than they are now (they were making progress until PPM..now they are below a 1 share).

Speaking of 790 what's Royce going to do with it? Whatever happened to the Sports format they planned? They are putting no effort into the Classic Country format. Even their web site hasn't been updated since the ownership change.
