New KIRO GM

So the trades are reporting that Cathy Cangiano in new GM at KIRO. So nice to see more women in the GM role in this market. I'm assuming Dave Broadmoor is retiring...but haven't heard. Bonneville is a good solidly run company and they've done a great job with both of the KIRO stations.

Congratulations to Cathy on the appointment. Given the current pandemic, economic, and media landscape, my simple advice would be: Rent, don't buy.

Dave Pridemore is NOT retiring. In fact he's looking for work. Go to his Linkedin page. And I wouldn't call an organization "classy" when you're suddenly kicked to the curb following nearly 30 years on the job.

Cathy has been in Seattle since the mid '80s and held a number of positions at KIRO in her 20 years there. So I'm sure she did buy - not rent - and probably made a fortune on the house.

My whoops

My whoops. Pridemore! Sorry...and I wish him nothing but the best. Always a classy guy with me...

My understanding as was told, he retired. However keep in mind Bonneville is one of the few (maybe only) groups with an actual retirement vesting program in place for long time employees. So that could perhaps have been a factor. Every single media organization we do business with has made some level of personnel cuts since COVID - this thing has been brutal. I wish Dave nothing but good things - he's absolutely a class act- and certainly one heck of a run with lots to be proud for.

Bonneville/Seattle elevates Director of Sales Cathy Cangiano to Senior VP/Market Manager overseeing News/Talk KIRO-FM, Sports KIRO-AM (710 ESPN Seattle) and News/Talk KTTH-AM along with mynorthwest.com. Cangiano joined the cluster in 2000 as Promotions Director before becoming Director of Marketing. She then entered sales as General Sales Manager for KIRO-AM. Last year, Cangiano was boosted to Director of Sales for the cluster and Seattle Mariners Radio.

Considering prevailing wages, housing costs and longevity issues, my advice is:
Don't bother to rent, just buy a tent.
