I know it happened a few weeks ago, but this board did not mention anything about 101.7 The Beat changing their imaging to B101.7.
I just have a few comments...
Maybe it was a good idea to change it FROM "The Beat". That moniker sounds like a balls to the wall Rhythmic CHR more than classic R&B. On the other hand, "B101.7" sounds like a Mainstream CHR. (I know... all I have to do is listen to know that they are neither, I'm just making an imaging point.)
HOWEVER...
They still have no jocks, no interaction, no promotions. It's a jukebox. Even if they're just trying to spoil 95.1's party, this is not the right approach.
And I keep hearing the same sweepers over and over like the one that says something about cruising San Mateo and partying on the West Mesa. If I'm not mistaken, the Albuquerque tradition "Back In The Day" was cruising West Central, low riders with rims, bumpin' systems, and chicks looking for a party and/or wanting to get laid. Some young yuppies would cruise(more like RACE) on Montgomery. As far as I know, NO ONE CRUISED SAN MATEO!!
And they play that one EVERY half hour. Their PD must not have done his homework.
Anyway, 101.7 The Beat, or B101.7... the way their doing it it's still only good for a 1 share.
I'm a classic R&B fan. I'm also a fan of having jocks on every station...and the only thing KQBT is good for IMHO is having a song to listen to when Hot is playing a crappy song or a commercial.
