New KVIB Morning Show

KVIB announced to the staff today they are bringing in Don Cheto to do mornings - syndicated by Liberman out of Los Angeles. Cheto beats Piolin in Los Angeles, Austin and Riverside and is very competitive to Piolin in Dallas where LBI has signal disadvantage. Piolin is fading in a number of markets. Could change the dynamic of mornings in PHX if it clicks like it has in other places.

KHOT is very dominant in AM drive which is primarily what drives the station. This show could pull from KLNZ, KNAI, and KHOT changing the market dynamics on the Spanish language side.

Now we just need Big Boy's Neighborhood to syndicate on Power 98.3.
Actually no, nevermind. That show plays too much dance content for what Power 98.3 has become these days. They might start playing Yeah 3x or Mr Saxobeat, which would sort of not fit in on Power right now. However, there was a time when Power 98.3's most appropriate morning show would've been Big Boy's Neighborhood.

I'm not a fan of syndicated shows; however, (IMO) Power has become crap. Granted, it has more competitors now and its signal isn't like it was, but when Power reached it's peak back in the 90's, it included dance. Dance was part of its heritage.

Big Boy has been a miserable failure in syndication. That would destory Power's momentum which has been very good of late. Power had its best PPM month ever in July in most of the key sales demos. Not a real reason to mess with too much.

separating itself from the other 28 CHRs in the market

I immediately figured that this was what Power was trying to do ever since they decided to start phasing out the pop content and began focusing more on hip hop.

As far as how well or poorly the Big Boy show does, I know nothing about that.
