New KVOI owners expanding local talk

This morning, the host of "WakeUp! Tucson" made mention of some programming changes coming next week. I just hope its not more hours of Dave Ramsey.

John C Scott in his mid-70's, according to what I see on-line. Think he maybe had enough and walked away - again?

Hey, John will never be another Bert Lee, Jr. (remember *that* guy? RIP...) but maybe this is a continuation of the changing of the guard.

I heard most of John's final show last Friday including the very end. There was absolutely no indication that it might be his last show. Although I often disagreed with his political opinions, I thought Scott's show was informative and a good listen. I will miss it.

Correction:

The actual Bert Lee, Jr died in Florida in April, 1972. Bert Lee, III passed away in 2004 in Tucson.

I shall quote from myself from last November: "I predict that the all local talk format will last a few months at most. It will prove to be overly expensive and the ratings will be no better than what the nationally syndicated talkers delivered. My hope is that John C Scott's program will continue regardless of what happens to the rest of KVOI."

In actuality it took a little more than a few months but my prediction was generally accurate. John C Scott has an excellent program and is very informative. They could have tossed all the other junk including the sports talk but Scott should have remained. He has a way of reincarnating but this time I can't imagine where he might end up.

If you listen to KVOI you'll hear very few paid commercials but there are endless free PSAs that are dull to sit through. Money was undoubtedly the deciding factor. Will the syndicated programming produce more revenue? I doubt it.
