New KYKX Studio

A blurb in this morning's (Sunday) Longview newspaper reported that KYKX is now operating out of its new studio on Highway 259 North. The general manager is quoted as saying the move was effective last week and that the change was necessitated because the station has new owners.

Adjacent to the story was an annnouncement that Big Dave's Bar-B-Que also is in business, and the address given put it within a couple of doors of KYKX. Unknown if both interests made an effort to avoid (hot)linking the two.

The bar B-Q folks are afraid of KYKX chasing away customers. They are concerned that customers would complain to the health department. If I was the Barbque place ,I would place large speakers out front and have the tuner on KNUE,and purchase some air time for a remote. That would be be asite to see, the KNUE van parked out front, banners everywhere. It would be a KODAK moment.

Yes, it is a three suite building, with Big Dave's and KYKX on the corners, and Bike and Fitness in between.

And if the KNUE van had four flat tires, the search for the usual suspect would be short indeed.

Naw Dru wouldn't do that.He would get a 'Mr. Microphone"and a small Sony Boom box and stand in front of the van claiming KNUE doesn't do local programming.

Based on his past hijinks, I wouldn't put any money on that statement. The guy has no shame. >

I heard due to trending down of the KYKX #s for that past millenium that A-1 was set to flip k-Y-kx to Urban or Urban/AC utilizing staff from their Shreveport Urban. Anyone else hear this.

Certainly would be no surprise to anyone. Access 1 is against too strong a head wind from KKUS and KNUE, and Urban or some similar format allows them much smoother sailing. With the new studio on line and a few other transitional matters squared away, any format change to be made could be near. And then again the station may reel and rock on for no telling how long before anything happens.
