New L.A.! 2/16/14

Very interesting conditions tonight led me to a *very* wanted Los Angeles station.

790 - KABC Los Angeles, CA; finally! My most wanted Los Angeles AM station made it through pesty KFPT Clovis, CA with ABC News, fade-out, and back with ID "The Bob Martin Show, Sunday mornings on Talk Radio 790 KABC" at 2234 PT 2/16. NEW #573, 5KW, 874 miles. This is my 9th 790 station overall.
Also noted a Mexican fading in and out as well - thinking XESU Mexicali. No ID yet and will check later.

Conditions have been semi-Aurora actually. Southern night with loads of CA, NV and Southwest. Other logs made...
1240 jazz on top at 1905 PT - KNRY Monterey's new format? If so, 1st time heard since October 2013.
1340 KACH Preston, ID with Citadel/Cumulus AC format, "Because of You" Kelly Clarkston. About 550 miles at 1905 PT
1240 KRJW Altamont, OR full ID "1240 the Winner" at 2000
570 KLAC Los Angeles, CA w/ 310 area code mention at 2210ish
600 KOGO San Diego huge all alone, ID during Coast to Coast, George Knapp hosting tonight.
750 KHWG-NV big, 760 KFMB-CA big
550 with Rascal Flatts may be another needed one, KUZZ. But, as always, "no ID - no log!" I need a local commercial, mention of the city or area it serves, and/or ID to put it in the logbook!

Judging by KABC's ratings, you're one of the few people that wanted it! :)

:D - Thanks for the chuckle this morning. Back in Western Washington, KFPT, KGMI and CFCW were so pesty that KABC still couldn't do the job. They are introducing a new show called "Midday L.A." this afternoon - now how many 1000s of people will listen to that?

Also, TWO MORE NEW ONES!! All after 12AM and after I slumped into bed...

550 - KUZZ Bakersfield, CA; CMT After Midnite/Cody Alan; several country songs including "Jump Right In" by Zac Brown Band; ID "AM 550 KUZZ" c. 0020 PST 2/17 (very late 2/16). NEW #574, 5KW, 780 miles. I think I actually counted this one many years ago but without an ID, I took it out and just thought I had KBOW on a weird bearing. Now I really have an ID - yay!
The other log, also on 550, was REALLY good...

550 - KFYI Phoenix, AZ; Coast to Coast, partial "KF_I" ID at 0034 PT while KOAC-OR and KUZZ-CA were trying to be really pesty. Also another "KF__" ID at 0036 before back to Coast to Coast and mention of talk radio, so this is the only match!! NEW #575, 1KW, 1016 miles! This is only AZ #5, next to KTNN, KFNX, KMIK and KPXQ. Conditions were good to the south and southeast so I knew some 1000 watters could make it.
