New Line-up on 1400-1490 Portland

I don't think there's been anything local on these stations for quite some time. Was there ever a local morning show on "The Bay" before they started airing Imus, or did they just carry whatever ran on the satellite standards service they were carrying at the time? I know that 1490 used to just be a simulcast of 101.9, so maybe there hasn't been anything local, unique to either of these stations since 1400 was WIDE?

You mean to tell me there's not a single person in Portland with two brain cells active enough to pull off a morning show? Sorry to see nothing's changed since I moved away. Make me an offer, people.

Well, Saga also owns 93.1, 98.9, 100.9, 101.9, 560, and 970. They're probably afraid to put on anyone local, because it could take away ratings from one of their other stations.

Good call, Marc. I'm always amazed when a media outlet fires up a programming equivalent of a vending machine. And then can't understand why there's no ad revenue beyond the few bucks they get from the syndicated "barter" spots.
 
If they get local listeners they will get revenue, regardless of where the content is from.

WEGP in Presque Isle is the only talk station north of Bangor, has no local talent originating from the station yet carries the Patriots, Red Sox Rush and Howie Carr. That's not incentive enough?

Advertisers will buy if they like the content and think people listening will like their product.
