What types of promotions would you like to see in your market and why? What do you think would work? Talk to me.....Thanks

Kind of a broad question, isn't it? Off the top, promotions that help build:
  • Station brand
  • Sales
  • Cume/TSL
Outside of those rather obvious statements, it would be very nice to see some fresh ideas as opposed to the same old "come out and we'll give you something" promos. Things like that work if what you're giving away is something that people want, but I like to give listeners something they can't get anywhere else - and I want them to listen to get anything at all. And please, no more car dealerships!

I would like to see some promotions that get stations out and GIVING stuff away in almost guerilla style marketing. For instance, sweeping in to offices where workers have registered in the listening area and handing out free stuff to EVERYONE and then giving a bigger prize to the person who registered (online, fax or email)

We do something very similar, for lunch visits. Once an office is chosen, we bring lunch to them along with some goodies - and something bigger for the person who requested the visit. In fact, we do this with two of the three stations in the local cluster, tailoring the promo to the station's identity. Personally, I like the idea of taking that a step further and making "secret" stops leading up to a bigger quarterly promotion. No one knows the final destination - just the neighborhood- except for the person doing the remote. Call the station when you get there, crank out the music, and start handing out the fun!
