NEW LOCAL TALK SHOW ON KJZZ

Bear in mind it is an intellectual, informative, NPR-type show -- no clapping, signs of the Apocalypse, etc. -- but it is faring very well after just a few weeks. (Sorry, no Kinetico nor Ky-Ko, either... 8))

It is live, weekly, Wednesdays, from 11AM to noon. The host is KJZZ afternoon anchor, Steve Goldstein.

Thank you to whomever recommended Alice Lara for producer...Stan Barnes, for whom whe works now, is a regular commentator on the show, so she did find out about the recommendation. :)

The producer is Paul Atkinson, formerly with Channel 8's Horizon.

Topics have included transportation, energy, and ballot initiatives. Guests have included Marty Shultz, Bob Robb and Corporation Commissioner Bill Mundell. (Heavy NPR-type fare--but sharp discussions!)

The Governor is on for the entire hour once a month. She'll be the guest this Wednesday.

Though the show is not caller-driven, caller and e-mail questions are solicited and encouraged.

A new show on public radio?

I can just hear the dull NPR sytled monotone pattern.

Perhaps we can do stories about the harsh treatment of South American natives and add in the stereotypical guitar music and sounds of the native children playing in the background.

Isn't this Here & Now - the local version? I thought they had been doing this for years? I'm sure they have.

yes, they have. it's not a "new" show. ::) News veteran Terry Ward had been the host until recently.
