New Log at sunrise, a milestone! 10/14/2011

Got a new log at sunrise, and it's a milestone!

1230: KRYP Gresham, OR; SS religious // KVAN 1560. 145 mi, new #400!!! A milestone! :) Also had a full TOH ID for KKEE 1230 Astoria, OR, not new "Fox Sports 1230 K-Key, KKEE Astoria".

Hets heard this AM on 594, 693 (JOAB?), 747 (strongest), 774 (JOUB?), 918, 1287 (JOHR?) and 1566 (very weak het maybe HLAZ?) All with no audio heard on my G5.

Wow, I thought you had been kidding about the 300 stations in that closing bio. I guess not! You probably have more stations logged on FM that that.

Changing that total must be like the old Steven Wright line about buying a million McDonald's burgers so he could watch them change the sign outside.

And the big #400 was on a GY, too. Way to go!
 
I've got LESS logged on FM due to the da*n IBOC and interference/bleed on some channels. But I have logged many stations via Es!

As my sig. says, 400 AM stations, 189 FMs...That's A DXer! I change this every time I have a new log. I need to spend more time on those GYs. I was on a Global Tuners node in Quebec and the mess on 1230 was incredible. Except for an Adult Standards station (likely Burlington, VT) and an ESPNer likely Easton, PA nothing was even listenable. I do better here even with several stations on the frequency. I can listen for a couple minutes and have at least one or two come out of the jumble. Best I've caught was KWIK 1240 Pocatello, ID-579 miles.

Mistake: 1230 is KRYN, not KRYP, sorry.

Got two more new logs this evening.

910: KWDZ Salt Lake City, UT // 1250 KKDZ, Owl City Fireflies; Radio Disney ID into Cobra Starship's You Make Me Feel. 695 miles, 1kw, new #401.

1280: KFRN Long Beach, CA, soft religious music and match to local Family Radio affiliate KARR 1460. Only 1kw at 975 miles, new #402.

Really good catch on that one. You may have already known, but they run a two-tower directional pattern days and go non-directional at night with the same power--very unusual.
