New Log earlier tonight 1/12/13

I got a new log earlier tonight. The callsign is familiar but it's a different stick.

980: KWSW Eureka, CA; heard at 4:30pm today with weather forecast; mention of lows in the upper 30s and a KWSW mention. This was the ex-KINS, before KWSW went to 980 from 790 and 790 became a Regional Mexican station (KEJY). I had never logged the 980 Eureka under any callsign, including KINS. NEW #472, 5kw, 499 miles.

Nice nab there, Crain, at 499 miles !

I'm unfamiliar with the west coast terrain and conditions. Was this a sunset catch, a mid-winter anomaly catch, a water-path thing, or all/none/some of the above?

Sunset catch. A few min. later, 980 became a huge mess. Before, KWSW was on top (I almost mistaken it for CKNW at first).
