Hmmmm, interesting that it took you this long to snag that one. Back in 1993, I actually picked up 1520 KOMA (KOKC's legacy calls) at night in Bend, OR. Came in reasonably well actually. Couldn't pull it off any nearer Portland, thanks to the 15 kw KGDD, which must stand for God Da*ned Distraction (appropriate calls for someone trying to dx, I'd say!).

Actually I'm not surprised about the KOKC catch. ;D (smiley back atcha, crain) What's puzzling to me is how KGDD ever got on the air at night with that amount of power. Check this map of KOKC's nighttime pattern www.fcc.gov/ftp/Bureaus/MB/Databases/AM_DA_patterns/97821-67083.pdf and consider the direction from their towers south of Oklahoma City to Portland. Its northwest skywave has always been potent.

Something else that's interesting with KGDD is how on earth they justify the need for an FM translator in Vancouver WA. Yes, it's within their protected contour as the rules state, but surely 15kW is enough to cover the Portland area fairly well, wouldn't you think? Offhand I'd say there are probably more deserving candidates in the area.

Let me just add to that BRNout,

God D*mned Mexican Music Distraction!

Around 9:30PM last night, KOKC was still in, fairly strong over KGDD at times when I nulled it, and also got a tentative 1170 KFAQ too.
