New Logs and unids from the past few days...and a new state!

I have logged a few new stations and some UNIDs in the past few days. I couldn't post them right away because the computer has gotten ULTRA-slow, so bad the internet is unusable. Tonight it's working OK...hopefully it dosen't get slow again.

11/7/11

NEW LOGS
1400 KRPL Moscow, ID: TOH ID at 2100 PST, "KRPL Moscow" above the jumble. New #417, 1kw, 251 miles.
740 KVOX Fargo, ND: Fox Sports talk had been mixing occasionally with CBX/KCBS between 2140-2200 PST. At 2200 under the jumble heard "...KVOX...Fargo" ID into more FSR programming. New #418, 940w (!), 1187 miles, NEW STATE!!

TENTATIVES
740 CFZM Toronto, ON: Adult Standards/Nostalgia music had been mixing with CBX/KCBS/KVOX between 2130-2205 PST. I never heard any IDs as at ID time it faded under the other three. If I get this station again I'm hoping I get a "Zoomer Radio" ID, for a new province and a 2000 mi+ log.

UNIDs
680 very weak talk under KNBR; threshold level; could not tell if it was FF or EE. Could be CHFA, could be CJOB, I don't know.

11/8/11

NEW LOGS
1230 KORT Grangeville, ID: At least two C&Ws had been mixing on 1230, one being KBNH-OR the other a mystery. At 2108 PST heard an ID for "Today's Country AM-FM KORT" into modern C&W music. New #419, 1kw, 309 miles.

UNIDs
1390 unid station with Christmas music, i.e. Feliz Navidad at 2006 PST. Not sure who it is.
1390 unid SS station @ 2019 PST. KLTX-CA?
870 unid w/ Hot AC i.e. Last Friday Night Katy Perry @ 2202 PST, mixing with KFLD. I had to position my antenna just right and CAREFULLY to avoid massive splatter from 10kw night, 1.5 mi away 880 KIXI. Maybe CFBV Smithers, BC?

11-9-11

NEW LOGS
1400 KSPT Sandpoint, ID: TOH ID @ 2100 PST "News Talk 1400 KSPT Sandpoint and 1450 KBFI Bonner's Ferry" (KBFI is not new). Into ABC News at 2100. New #420, 1kw, 265 miles.

UNIDs
1390 that Christmas music station again, not sure who

I think you have heard Toronto as the only other 740 that plays adult standards is WMBG in VA, which is only 7 watts at night. Wowwww...

CFZM often ID itself simply as "AM 740."

I did hear songs such as "That's Life" Frank Sinatra, etc, but couldn't match the webstream because the computer was unusable. Ultra-slow, no progress, freezes, etc.

I have no doubt that you heard CFZM.

With all the stations on 740 where I am, and especially the one in Orlando 80 miles away, it's not a regular but when it does come in, it competes with even WYGM in Orlando.

Here, CFZM starts out weak but even dominates for a brief time.

And I'm surprised KCBS is heard where you are because I thought they aim most of their signal to the SE.

Interesting.

KCBS does have a smaller lobe running NW so they do get out in that direction. KCBS has reportedly been heard in Alaska.

I'm 200 miles *west* of Fargo, and at night, *I* get CFZM mixed in on 740...

Does CFZM have AM Stereo??

I don't think they do since it used to be a CBC Radio 1 station until around 2000. I don't have an AM stereo system to test on. CBC Radio 1 does everything in mono, even on FM. But they do a have a great sounding signal.

The best way to verify Zoomer Radio will be to check songs against their online playlist, especially if the signal is weak for you it can be easier to make out a song name then hear the voice between songs.

Crain,

Me thinks you had Toronto too. I believe they still play 60's rock and pop on Saturday nights. If you try for them again this evening you may hear the sounds of The Beatles or Rolling Stones instead. Good luck nailing this one man, it will be an epic catch for you!

.....If you're around tonight, let me know. I have a rock solid CFZM every night in my location and can nail this one for you.
