New Low for pathetic GST

Spending an hour + today (denny schaffer) talking with a "journalist" from creative loafing about Neil Boortz, gawd. Talk about show prep (or lack thereof) and compelling radio. Having your midday host spend a good chunk of his show talking about his competitor who kicks his butt in the ratings. Oh that's brilliant programming. Just shut it off and/or get out of the format to avoid any further embarrassment.
Edited by artiemad on 04/15/06 12:43 AM.

C'mom Boortz, just admit you're on the take from Vernon Jones.

Continuing in the Denny Schaffer tradition, next week Tom Hughes will begin discussing all the morning hosts who are kicking HIS butt in the ratings.

It's going to be a twenty-eight part series.

Darn, I missed that. Why was Denny talking about Boortz? Maybe it was about Neil's unwillingness to take on the AJC.

Denny probably didn't stay on that topic for too long, he covers a wide range of subjects. And he is more frequently prepared than his rambling poopooing competitor.

Get real. Howard Stern and Opie and Anthony, Imus, Mancow, they ALL talk about each other, so your point is mute.

The issue here is using a public entity ( the airwaves )to coerce a public official into granting a 'sweetheart deal' ( allegedly ). The Cox owned paper does not do a follow up investigation on thier Cox owned #1 money making talent, after a local long established free weekly does an investigation.

Denny giving this guy a forum may look cheap, but it does not excuse the possible inference that Boortz may have used his position to get something at a reduced price to the detriment of the community. In a free market, that property should have been leased to the highest bidder for the taxpayers of Dekalb County. Instead, it looks awfully strange, to most reasonable people.

Again, the fact that the Creative Loafing is doing the leg work, filing freedom of information requests, following up on the leads, showcases the state of journalism at the Cox owned AJC. I speculated Rodney Ho would not give Boortz the same treatment as the Kimmer, and I was roundly criticised. I stand vindicated, and we can all thank WGST and the Creative Loafing for exposing the emperor and his new clothes.

Unless, of course, it was reported on, and I missed it. But the CL article broke weeks ago, and I don't recall this issue ( and yes, it is an issue )being discussed on this board, either.

so your point is mute.

That would be moot. But anyway....

I know scandals usually start small, but perhaps the AJC has looked at the issue and decided there was nothing worth reporting. There are other media in Atlanta like channel 11, 46, 5 and others. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if they could get a scandal started involving one of Atlanta's/the nation's biggest media personalities that they would? Especially if it would hurt, even indirectly, their competitor?

Okay, I'll stop. I'm not going to beat a dead (BLEEP) ( pun intended ).

Still, methinks it's pretty odd that the AJC allocates $$ and time to send reporters out to get the ridiculous police report of 2 old guys' fisticuffs ( i.e. Kimmer and MoonBatMan ), but doesn't seem to really care about thier 'rainmaker' screwing over the taxpayers of Dekalb, and using his platform to intimidate local politicans ( allegedly ).

Way to go John Sugg! Kudos Creative Loafing!

And Savage about Limbaugh. And Hendrie about many.

Although the point would be "moot", not "mute". :)

It's actually pretty smart. Doubtful he would, but if Boortz were to respond, he'd be turning people onto 'GST, and seeing that nobody's even heard of them, it's free publicity. Presuming, though, that Boortz doesn't bite, you're really not losing anything since everyone knows Boortz is there, anyway. What, you think people are listening to 640 unaware that there's a better station just 110kHz up the dial?

Yawn

In three months, Denny Schaeffer will be back on his college station in Steubenville, Ohio. So, whatever Schaeffer says or does on his show is completely irrelevant.
