New LPAM member

Hello all, my name is Chuck Farrand and I operate a LPAM in my "active adult" (aka retirement) community in central Arizona.
I was born and raised in southeast Michigan (metro Detroit) and grew up listening to AM radio.
During the day it was mostly our "rock-n-roll" stations like WKNR, WXYZ and from across the river in Canada, CKLW.
Local sports, Tigers baseball, Lions football, Red Wings hockey, U of M football came via WJR, WWJ and WJBK to name a few.
At bedtime, I would fall asleep listening to Warren Pierce talk to people from all over the country.
When we spent time at our grandparents cottage, on Lake Erie near Monroe, I would listen to talk (Coast Guard etc.) on my grandfathers marine radio.
To this day, I still listen to AM "talk radio". With the internet, I was able to listen to stations from all over the world.
In the early 2000's, as I was searching the internet for more radio stations, I ran across LPAM and LPFM broadcasting. I started to investigate what it took to start a Low Power radio station. Most of what I found (in the LPAM, LPFM area) were stations playing music and although their process was interesting, I wasn't interested in a music station. Talk Radio was my thing. In 2009 I went "on the air" with my own LPAM broadcasting from my home studio. In 2018, when I moved to the "active adult" community I brought my station with me. The challenges of a station where I currently am are plenty. I originally sub let "studio space" from a financial services office in the area but that turned sour when the office decided to move. With no other space available, I reverted back to a home studio and with no good location for my transmitter, I'm primarily a streaming station now. I would love to get my transmitter back on line but the obstacles are hard to overcome. Anyway, that's my story.

Howdy and welcome to RD. In'er'stin', have always been a fan of radio from a kid and worked in good ol' Ancient Modulation (in the words of a radio mentor back home used to say) for a little over six years.
