New Manager coming for Batesville Broadcast Group

great info. OldGM. I believe the o riginal site was east of hwy 49south...but that was a l o n g time ago, and I may be "off".

If I am just not completely out of my mind ( can’t recall what I ate for lunch today), that thing was out of the ground CP in 1980 and always was full-time. FCC was not accepting applications for any day-timers at the time. The reason recall is I was working for a consultant named Scott Baxter at that time on another project and he subcontracted with Gene Sisk to tune it up and complete the 302-AM. Somewhere around here I have the application and all of the exhibits. It was indeed a tight fit up against the WHAM 0.5 mv 50% night time. In these cases, the 0.025 mv 10% of the Class II could not touch the Class A 0.5 mv, anywhere. The walk-ins were through water next to the site, a real PIA. One of the principles was a former Gates salesman who lived in Brookhaven and his name escapes me now…. Jim???
But Gene Sisk, now there indeed is a piece of work!

Right...He eventually has an FM low on the dial at Brookhaven...He was a Jim but I draw a blank , too. Now , About Sisk, he is still standing but very ill...He probably put more AM's on in the deep south than any resident engineer...different but a brilliant person who worked for RCA and CCA in his career. Most of his work was filed under his wifes name. Was the original transmitter located where I recall it was, or am I dreaming...All the best J Boyd

WJNT started out as WPRL-AM around 1979-80. It was a 1kw-ND daytimer on 1190. The original transmitter site was a single tower in Richland, MS right off Hwy 49. Mid-South Media was the original owner. Not long after they went on the air, Mid-South filed to modify the facility to 10kw ND day and 500w DA night on 1180. The current site in Pearl was constructed around 1980-81 on the site of an old fish hatchery pond. The 3 towers are 170 feet tall with some additional top-loading. The current 50kw ND day application was filed around 1986.

Hey JBI:

When you write that book don't forget the part about Cooper.

GJames, Starkville.

GJames:
It will be in there. That whole scene proves it is true what Napoleon Hill Wrote:
" From every adversity, there comes the seed of a equivilant or greater benefit"
Stop by when you can. All the best..J Boyd.

She is on the job! And...doing great! Don't overlook the females, fellows. I am headed to Mardis Gras in Mexico,
and how good is that? I will have a taco Pastor and Corona for you. See you later (I hope!) JBI
