New McAllen Translator

Probably a way to put another format on using HD-2 off KBFM if it has HD....

When 104.5 KKMY moved to its new tower as a C1, the translator in Beaumont on 103.3 was no longer needed...(it was when 104.5 was on the 500 ft tower closer to Orange for better building penetration in Beaumont)...so they switched it to carry HD-2 on 104.5 which is Comedy 24/7...which is a nice format...but I hate the idea of an analog xlator carrying a HD signal as a "fill in" xlator...just clouds the band up more..

KBFM does broadcast HD, in fact they broadcast IHeart Radio's Mia format on the HD2. If they put that format on this translator, it would probably not be a ratings magnet considering the market has several other similar higher power Latin stations.

Translator signed on with Radio Libertad programming from Corpus. They are using KBFM HD2 to rebroadcast to the 98.1 translator in McAllen.
