I posted some of this way down another thread, but it does let me introduce myself again ... I am excited to find a place of like-minded people, none of my friends really listens when I get spouting about radio.
I am new to this board and air-checking. I have much of Howard from 11/1 to 12/16, and will get the "Best Of's" as the year ends (this morning has Kinison and Brenner together ... 1989?)
I got into doing this shortly after the KRock announcement that they were going talk after Howard leaves. As a big KRock fan this was crushing news - Howard I can follow, but KRock disappearing after 20 years ... well, I admit I left them for a couple years for the original Q104 Pure Rock - but I digress ...)
I didn't even know I was "air-checking", I was just trying to capture K-Rock before it disappeard (I did the same with Q104 - I still have those cassettes somewhere!)
I have my aux-out from my receiver going into my sound card's line-in. I use "Freecorder" to capture the audio to mp3 directly, at 64kbits (i had to go lower as I was planning on recording alot, I am up to 20 gigs already and have to start moving stuff to DVD), then "Cool MP3 Splitter" to narrow down to from approx 5:50 am to the "this concludes the Howards Stern broadcast day" message .
I will post links to the following:
Howard's Last Week:
Howard_Stern_923K-Rock_2005-12-12_partial_from830am.mp3
Howard_Stern_923K-Rock_2005-12-13.mp3
Howard_Stern_923K-Rock_2005-12-14.mp3
Howard_Stern_923K-Rock_2005-12-15_feat_jackie_martling.mp3
Howard_Stern_923K-Rock_2005-12-16_final_show_3hrs(700am-1000am).mp3
As you can see, I have the whole week, except the 2 1/2 hrs. on Monday, and the first hour on Fri - damn PC rebooted in the middle of the night for some reason.
None of the links I have tried here yet for the beginning of the Friday show seem to work.
