New Mexicali FM on 101.1

In the car, a new carrier is blanking KRTH sporadically thru east county. Using the Jerrold beam aimed at Mexicali stations
on 101.9/103.3/104.1, -this blank stereo signal is stronger. Maybe somebody can find out more about this one.(And,
while you're at it, the mono carrier on 90.3 which originates out that way also, now going on 2+ years.)

Call Bill Zears, or whoever has that job now and complain. See what kind of "We can't do anything about this" response you get.

Well as Gleason has pointed out Mexico plays by a different set of rules. And unless the drug lords are KRTH fans you can forget about anything whatsoever being done about this. We better get Shotgun Tom to do a shout out and request for the drug lords.....Maybe Clapton? I Shot The Sheriff?

Back to my "Com" center tonight, Christmas music is playing.. Audio is about 50%, with a high hum level which suggests a
consumer audio product mismatch. As of(9:20), the music has stopped, and intermittant computer chimes are sounding.Automation
problems? Anyway, after over 2 hours of monitoring, no announcements, commercials or, Umm, ID's were heard.
I'm guessing this signal s/b audible somewhere to the Indio/Palm Springs area shadowed from KRTH, if it is from Mexicali area.
Blank carrier now.

Update= On the way to Descanso, the carrier disappeared east of Lake Jennings rd.,/KRTH pretty strong
and overwhelming it in most places. It was not present for the next 15 miles east. A turn around back to Gillespie
field/Lakeside/Santee area and it was back in, sporadically, mixing w/KRTH. I think it can not be Mexicali
and more likely somewhere around/near Lakeside.Maybe. LOL. Will try to DF this one when time allows.

Actually, the big LA signals that are not blocked by locals shoot into the Palm Springs market quite nicely. I can listen in the car as I drive around the Indio to Palm Desert areas and KRTH and KLVE are the easiest ones. Until you get to Coachella, the Mexicali signals are totally blocked.

I'm thinking that the signal is originating around the Woodside to Magnlolia to Mast Blvd. area.

I picked up the station for about 30 seconds when I was on the corner of 805 and Balboa. It had the audio from "The View" on it. Come on people if youre going to pirate for God sake do something decent with it. Putting The View on is like putting farts and toilet flushes on! Actually I would rather hear toilet flushes than the View.

Found this little bugger. I was only off the mark by 1 country and 90 miles. Gold Star goes to Hipman2;this is a Christmas
station located at the Santee Drive-In theatre. Goes west to West Hills H.S. (3.5mi.).

LOL! Some gym houses like 24/7 Fitness run some short-range FM transmitters with TV audio that can be reached for a few hundred yards. You must have been listening to the channel 10 audio on FM in the 10am hour.
