New Michigan Streamers

1 new streamer:

Urban AC WTLZ Saginaw
http://www.hotwtlz.com/

WTLZ is the heritage urban in Saginaw, it now runs Harvey in the mornings and Baisden in the afternoons

1 returning streamer
Urban AC WMFN-AM Grand Rapids (interesting sounding station, its website had disappeared for awhile)
http://www.wmfnam640.com/

Its Urban AC competitor in Grand Rapids is WJNZ, it still has a streaming link on its website but the stream is currently down.

Urban AC V-100 Muskegon is also promising to be streaming soon

WMFN is no longer Urban AC, it flipped to Regional Mexican after the guy who was leasing time for the "Smooth Vibes" format from Birach (Tyrone Bynum) decided not to renew his lease. Despite the controversy over Bynum's show, the station played some good music and has a big signal to boot. The change gives the Grand Rapids market four Spanish AMs, with the others being WMFN's sister station 810 WMJH, plus 1410 WNWZ and 1530 WYGR.

I like WTLZ and the Smooth Jazz show they have on Sundays. I read somewhere on one board, though, that there is a rumor floating that they may go satellite from ABC's The Touch soon. I hope not.

Actually, WTLZ's heritage in the market with the Urban format is even older than the calls themselves - before it was WTLZ, it was WWWS, "W-3-Soul." As WTLZ they were a Rhythmic CHR and then a Mainstream Urban under the name "Power 107" during the '90s, then it was around 1999 that the station shifted more in an Urban AC direction and took the "Hot" moniker (though they still played some hip-hop at night for a while, until Regent signed on its Rhythmic WRCL/Club 93-7).

Thanks for the informative update! By the way, WMFN's internet stream is STILL playing Urban AC as of this afternoon, check it out!
