new Mike McConnell interview

Very interesting interview. Parts of it would be interesting to radio fans even if they'd never heard of McConnell.

Thanks--I have more interviews with various people and plan on doing a lot more :)

It would be great if you could get Randy on the podcast.

That would be difficult because I'd have to ask some tough questions that I don't think he'd want to answer, plus I don't think he'd grant me an interview.

You never know, he might grant the interview and show up with something special hanging from his neck.

Yeah, I went there.

It would certainly be weird, because (IIRC) Randy was indeed your boss until Friday. :)

But I'd LOVE to hear it, if you're ever able to do it. Or, if anyone is...

Very good interview, Margaret.

I'll link this up at some point...though we don't cover Cincinnati much these days, WLW transcends the market...

I have always liked McConnell.

Seems like a nice person, on the air and to talk to on a face to face basis.

Thanks--I just looked at your site. My parents are from NE Ohio--talk about it all the time. I'm sure someone will eventually talk to Randy Michaels, just don't know if I want that to be me, or if he'd want it to be me either :p

Too bad you're not here, or I'd have you do some NE Ohio interviews for OMW! Of course, the Mighty Blog(tm) has no budget.

That was a great session with Mike. Very insightful, and I've always enjoyed him as well. I think he has a decent shot at WGN success post-Randy, even. He made a very good point about how long it took the Cincinnati audience to get used to him...

I could still do them if I go there because there's someone else who I want to interview in Cleveland, plus I can take a road trip to my parents' hometowns. But I don't have a budget either :-\

Thanks again for the compliment!

I interviewed Mike McConnell for my podcast, and he talks about why he left Cincinnati, the difference between Cincinnati and Chicago, his former company, politics, and more.

I can't download or listen to the interview.

Can you possibly very briefly relay why he left WLW? (If he answered it).

I really enjoyed Mike in the past but it seems like ever since he went national he just wasn't much fun to listen to. It almost seemed like he wasn't having much fun either.
