New Mix Show on HOT 104.7

Speaking of this station, am I the only one that thinks it should be moved over to the rhythmic pannel? French Montana? Please! I don't even think KFAT plays that and it's a rhythmic! Seriously? I thought and still think they are a good station, but don't like this kind of hip-hop, never have.

This has become my favorite CHR. The hosts are enjoyable, the music is fun (and yes rhythmic leaning), and the signal is strong here in Dover. Plus they have a nice local feel. I like their playlist 8)

Yes the playlist does sound good for the most part, but I wish they would drop the songs like the French Montana track I heard earlier today.

Yes, Pop That, very annoying song! Isn't rhythmic CHR supposed to be similar to what is played in the clubs anyway? Locally, KQMV is rhythmic-leaning similar to WHTP, but I don't think they would touch such a hardcore hip-hop track like that, I see them going in more of a dance-leaning rhythmic direction while keeping the pop reporting.

Looked at the playlist on their fb. They're definitely CHR and not Rhythmic. They play about as much hip hop as our CHR here in Boston, Amp 103.3 (A$AP Rocky Problems, Macklemore Thrift Shop, N****s in Paris, etc.) I also see a lot of CHR product (Ke$ha, Flo Rida, David Guetta/Sia, Gym Class Heroes, etc.) and they are just that - definitely CHR...and a direct competitor to Q97.9...with some rhythmic tracks thrown in. Jam'n 94.5 is a true rhythmic (even though lately they've leaned a bit pop but I see that changing very soon with the new Hot 96.9 in Boston) and even moreso, Hot 93.7 in Hartford. But for Maine, this isn't so bad.

They are Rhythmic with a slight pop lean. Not the other way around.

I agree!Quite different from 'JBQ,always upbeat. No sappy music.'JBQ has reacted with their Dashboard DJ between 5 & 6pm & the Q MIX @ 6.Hot got a 1.4 12+.They came on just as the ratings started and being a Class A signal about 25 miles away I think they did pretty
good for a rimshot signal They come in pretty good all the way to Yarmouth to the north.I noticed some car dealer ads from Portsmouth,so they're probobly listenable down there. If something could be done with that 105.1 LP in downtown Portland that would be great.Thewy really overpower 104.7.'JBQ is sounding much better since Hot came on.Some of it reaction to Hot & some of it a new PD.

Going to disagree...they are definitely CHR with a rhythmic lean. Here's a comparison of the last 10 songs played on Hot 104.7 (CHR with a rhythmic lean) and Jam'n 94.5 (Rhythmic with a CHR/pop lean). Sure there's a couple crossover songs on both stations, but you can tell who's CHR and who is Rhythmic. Gotye is definitely not a rhythmic/hip hop artist.

Not sure what you're looking at, Hot 104.7 is listed Rhythmic.

Hmmm, well they must've changed then, I was only going by the earlier post in this thread that they should be moved to the rhythmic panel, I assumed they were on the CHR panel. My bad. Anyways...if that's the case then they should model themselves more after Jam'n and play more hip hop / R&B tracks and drop the pop tracks they play a lot.

Why? This is Portland, not Boston. You have to program to the market your in. That's like people saying Jam'n should be more like 93.7 in Hartford. Same theory applies. Different demographics and tastes in every market.

The ethnic population in and around Portland does not compare to that of Boston by any stretch. What HOT is doing is pretty much spot on for the market.

Now here's KFAT from yesterday evening I couldn't find a log from 6 Anchorage time this morning, do they not watch that market?
Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble
Flo Rida - I Cry
Bruno Mars - Locked Out of Heaven
Calvin Harris - Sweet Nothing Feat. Florence Welch
Drake F. Lil' Wayne - The Motto
Will.I.Am - Scream and Shout Feat. Britney Spears
Kesha - Die Young
Some song I'm not sure of the name of by sounds like T.I. Probably a recurrent or gold.
I Knew You Were Trouble for the second time in about 20 minutes! Seriously?
Sweedish House Moffia - Don't You Worry Child
They have Rihanna's Diamonds in a promo and wouldn't you know it, that's the next song.
Usher Feat. Ludacris - Rest of My Life
Justin Bieber Feat. Nicki Minaj - Beauty and a Beat
Lupe Fiasco - Battle Scars
Alisha Keys - Girl On Fire
Pitbull - Don't Stop the Party
Miguel - Adorn
Gym Class Heroes - Stereo Hearts
Justin Timberlake Feat. JayZ - Suit and Tie
Bruno Mars - Locked Out of Heaven
David Guetta Feat. Acon - Sexy Chick
Would you considder KFAT's playlist a mainstream CHR playlist?

No. Def not mainstream. Def more Rhythmic. Notice the lack of pop rock and downtempo pop tracks (new Matchbox 20, Train, downtempo Adele, downtempo One Direction). A CHR/M (like Q or Kiss 108) would be running those tracks.

You have a point there. WHTP caters to what listeners in the Portland area want to hear, plus not many stations on the two main Rhythmic reporting panels are all Hip-Hop so they do have to reflect those changing taste in listeners in their markets.
