TTWWP. This thread is worthless without pictures

92.9 has about the same ratings as 790 AM. 790 is rumored to bill around $500.000 a month. Even WFAN took a couple of years to really start billing tons of money.

IMHO CBS is well capitalize and can afford to show patience.

The thing to do here is wait. As many of us know, it can take a good 12-18 months for new shows to really settle in and gain traction. I hate that Dave-FM is gone; it was a good station. Given some time, perhaps The Game will gain traction and listeners.

Given some time? Atlanta does not need 3 sports stations!

Great post, Roddy. When are the PBP rights for the Braves, Falcons, GT, and UGA up for bid? The Game will definitely make a run at each of those when they come available.

Or maybe it won't...how low do ratings have to get for advertisers to bail? It's dead last in the market, with a share of 0.6 - and apparently since CBS is on a nationwide Sports mission, they're still not going to give up

I can't think of any Atlanta full-FM station in the past five years that's ever done worse

Thanks. I really don't know when the rights are up.

Hey guys, my first post here! I have followed the boards for years now. Maybe The Game could get into the secondary markets of local content such as Georgia State Athletics, Georgia Force football, Gwinnett Braves or Gladiators (even on a select game level) and also use the signal to carry Sunday night and Monday night football content. Carrying some smaller productions could allow them to get all the kinks out before making a major “Network” play locally. Could be also be player in the Atlanta pro soccer market if they last that long. I am wondering how they can stack up with 680 once baseball season starts. With 680 being the flagship 92.9 has to rely on beat writers and TV reporters to be most of their guests.

Considering my hobby is following radio and tv station happenings nationwide and especially my hometown of metro Atlanta i knew about the change at 92.9 earlier than most people in the market. When Mostly News 106.7 launched i saw billboards, mentions on channel 5 news and signs on front of buses. I have not seen any promotion of 92.9 fm with its format. Only those that listened to Dave may be the majority of people that know about new sports format. Those glued to 680 and 790 may not even know about 92.9fm. I have not seen commercials or billboards so maybe that is keeping 92.9 from getting traction. When power launced billboards and tv spots were easily found and see its ratings.

No, Atlanta doesn't. The only way The Game has a chance is to provide better content. Granted, it has better reach and audio quality around the clock, but in talk radio, not many folks care if it's an AM or an FM as long as they can hear it when they want to.

I agree. What they need to do is establish themselves as a legitimate sports talker. Mind you, this takes a bit of time, considering people don't just jump ship on personalities with a snap of the finger, especially when those personalities are a bit rusty, and all The Game really has are personalities since the PBP rights are already taken. What seems to be part of their long-term strategy is allowing the hosts to establish themselves and shake of their rust until CBS can start negotiating for PBP rights. When it comes time to negotiate those rights, CBS will make damn sure the personalities are up to snuff and they will promote the hell out of the station, just like with recent ventures in Pittsburgh and Cleveland. While their competitors have the rights to the Falcons and Braves, the only thing 92.9 has are personalities and a strong signal, but who the hell wants to hear talk about basketball and hockey in Atlanta, even if it can be heard clearly at all times?

Anybody actually listen to that worthless station?
I do. I was just thinking about this today on my way home from work that I've listened to this station more in a month than I did in years when it was DaveFM. DaveFM was my favorite commercial radio station, but I've given up on radio for music outside of satellite. It's almost worthless to me. I do like talk of all kinds and I find myself enjoying many of the shows on The Game. And in the middle of the night it's kind of cool to hear local sports talk. So, yeah, I'm listening to this worthless station.

They might have a shot at the braves or the Falcons,UGA isn't leaving WSB,I know they are also on the fan,but that's because of Chuck Dowdle.
