Here's the text of the release:

SCOTT SAMS JOINS CBS 11 AS MORNING CO-ANCHOR

Sams to Begin Co-Anchoring CBS 11 News This Morning April 23

Dallas/Fort Worth – Veteran Dallas/Fort Worth television news anchor Scott Sams will join KTVT as co-anchor of the CBS 11 News This Morning beginning Monday, April 23.

Sams will join co-anchor Shannon Hori, Meteorologist Julie Bologna and Traffic Reporter Teresa Frosini weekday mornings from 5 to 7 a.m. on CBS 11.

“First and foremost, Scott Sams is a wonderful person and an extremely talented broadcaster,” said CBS 11 President and General Manager Steve Mauldin. “His years of experience in the Dallas/Fort Worth market make him a natural fit with Shannon, Julie and Teresa. I truly believe that they’ll be the best local morning team on North Texas television.”

Sams joins CBS 11 from KTEN-TV in Sherman, where he has anchored the evening and late newscasts for the past year. Prior to that, he spent almost 20 years as a news, weather and sports anchor for WFAA-TV. Throughout his career in broadcasting, Sams has anchored newscasts which received numerous awards, including three EMMY Awards and two Edward R. Murrow Awards.

“I am really excited to join the team at CBS 11,” Sams said. “It’s a TV station with momentum and one that’s genuinely focused on making a positive difference in the community. I’m also happy to be returning to morning television, which is where I feel the best. Julie, Shannon and Teresa are consummate pros, and I’m looking forward to working with them.”

Wants to be closer for his duties as Alexa's Baby Daddy

well come April 23rd I expect I will check channel 11 in the morning and see Scott Sams working again. I have been watching Tim and Megan, but since they have sent her off to the evenings for awhile I guess I pull myself away.

Sams will be fine as a replacement for Doug Dunbar, but I'm not sure a lot of people are going to change the channel to watch him. The bigger problem for CBS 11 is finding a replacement for Shannon Hori. Her husband is in Miami and she wants to be there too. Who can blame her?

The lack of stability on a morning show is always trouble. It's a problem for Fox 4 right now with Megan on nights. WFAA had a stability problem for years until they got their current lineup. They've been together for at least two years straight now, and that's the longest stint without a change there in probably 8 years. Channel 5 likely beats everyone in this category.

Well, nice to see things will have a familiar ring to them.

Well, good for Scott. I always liked working with him, and I think he was just burned out at Channel 8 after all those years. I wonder if the folks at KTEN figured this would happen eventually...and how the contract was written to allow for such a thing.

Im glad scotts back in the market...we can hope that rachel ray gets canned and they bring back the 9am show.

I'm glad he's coming back, too. Much as I'd like to see it, though, I don't expect the return of the morning show, but they'd better have something in the works. Rachel's show can't last much longer; there's precious little substance. (Hey, and in the meantime she might want to cut back on the pasta...)

Scott Sams welcome back. Now he will be appearing at the "Dallas Greek Festival" during the week of April 23rd as "Zorba The Greek" He, will dance around Morticia as she stuffs Grape leaves.

Nice to see he'll be joining the gang at WFAA West. I wonder if he'll start in the morning, and end up moving to the evening once Tracy retires?

Nah Doug will stay put. However I wouldn't be surprised if Scott ended up at 4p in addition to his morning show,or perhaps Ch.11 will try a noon cast again. ..I Imagine Moritica is having more than morning sickness.

I wish someone would try a half hour 12:30PM newscast.

KRIV in Houston used to do one. The numbers were terrible, but back then, all their numbers were terrible.

I still cannot get over the fact that KTVT does NOT have a noon newcast. That really is a shame in such a large TV market as the DFW area is.

KXAS doesn't have a noon newscast either.

If I'm not mistaken, they have an 11:00am newscast though, right?

10 am

Someone told me THE TODAY SHOW is about to go to four hours, so that will probably change to 11am. Besides what the hell is going on at 10am that you would need a newscast at that time?! ??? Or is it a courtesy to their HUB Master Control Operators, so they only have to deal with one newscast at a time. Each NBC O&O must do a midday newscast, just at a different hour... ;D ;)

Not everybody works a 8 to 5 day. A 10AM, 11AM, or Noonday Newscast may be the only Newscast an evening worker is able to watch.
