New Morning show that's likely to fail...

Mark this down in the "you have to be kidding me" department. WQYK AM (1010 the Least) has decided to launch their own morning show called "The Morning After" with uber-annoying update guy Tom Kraznickie(sp?). So now instead of one guy with an obnoxious NY accent doing morning sports talk, we have two. I think I"m going to put the over/under on the show for three months and for the format six tops...Oh, by the way, Yankee Spring Training tickets are on sale today...COINCIDENCE???!!!

In a somewhat related note, the name is rather interesting because CBS also owns O-Rock 105.9 in Orlando and their morning show is also called "The Morning After". However, from what I've read on their board, it sounds like that station is faltering as well.

I have to disagree. I think this will be the best morning show that station has had in the past 5 years or so for sports fans. Tom knows sports and he isn't an ass kisser. It will be nice for somebody to be honest and quit kissing ass to make celebrity friends. Plus he is well rounded and it won't be all Buc talk.
If it is likely to fail...don't blame Tom...blame that crappy signal.

-Cowhead (who also has horrible NY accent !)

Tom is doing a great job. Love to hear all about the Yankees and Jets. But yes he does give us a little USF Womens's basketball from time to time to breakup the New York sports talk. Just remeber it could be worse - can you say "Dan Sileo"?

Another Tom fan here, in fact a 1010 fan. I agree with Cow. Even if the Morning After does not work out, it will not be Tom's fault. The track record of the frequency alone is not going to help anything. I only hope that the powers that be give Tom time to get something happening with the show.

I thought this was LOCAL sports talk. Last time I checked this wasn't the Big Apple. I don't care how many disgruntled ex-northeasterners are down here, but the Bucs , Bolts, and Rays are the teams here that should be spoken about (and no, I don't believe in the "you live here you should root for our teams" theory that Duemig tries to shove down our throats, either), not the Jets and Skankees. Maybe the Least's trying to cater to the snowbird who has nothing better to do that take a dump on this community and Florida in general...

Face it, local sports talk is in pretty bad shape. Not that there's not much to talk about, but it's almost getting to the point where it's just unlistenable. The only reason Sileo is on the Animal IMHO is that he sells advertising, which I guess is more important than the quality of the show you're hosting these days.

Re: Kras is funny

Tom Krasnicki has a dry sense of humor and if anyone can help at that time of the morning. T-Kras isn't that bad.
But. Question.. Does anyone like Pepper? Check that. Does anyone find Pepper entertaining?

B Man

I love Pepper. Just can't get enough USF soccer and Oklahoma football talk. But it does take valuable time away from the New York sports talk. Can't we discuss whether Roger Clemens will be a Yankee this year? Or maybe what the starting rotation will be? And how about that over paid bum A-Rod!

Isn't it about time for 1010 to changes names and formats again. Any guesses as to what is next. Progressive talk? Christian? Wall to wall Sport Chix?

Tom K., Pepper, et al. - I kid because I care. Yes we do love you and the great work you are doing on the radio.

GO YANKEES!

Oh, aren't you just oozing with sarcasm! :p Anyway, caught the Pepper show (Kras was I guess out--Lighthall on the updates, and no Morning After). I'll give them this, they spoke more about USF athletics in the ninety or so minutes I listened than either of the two stations have combined in the last two months. Granted, there was a pretty significant (and tragic) circumstance in the untimely death of Keeley Dorsey, but still it was refreshing to hear some Bulls talk (as well as the Bolts). Problem is, I don't recall hearing one phone call. Hmmmm....

I spell "funny" with one N and two Y's.

I would very much like to see Pepper and 1010 be a success. But he is BORING on his best days. It doesn't matter what he is talking about. Given 1010's signal and the station's history of format flipping, I guess it doesn't really matter. I just want a local sports option other than Sileo to listen to in the morning.

And who was being sarcastic?

Although I do agree Tom is a good sports guy I do not think his show is going to work. It is very dry and seems to lack flow. As for the other shows on 1010 I think they are putting in a good effort to make something of the station. Pepper is good in the mornings. Keck is so-so and the Chix well they are the Chix. I do find them entertaining. Just my 2 cents.
